'The
Shire ' Report, By DK
Hey All
Here is a quick update on whats biting down round The Shire
Whiting, Bream and Flathead can be found everywere in Port Hacking right
now. Live worms and nippers the gun baits. Best areas are the South West
Arm or any of the sand flats or drop offs around Gunnamatta Bay or Bundeena
.
Jews are a bit on the quiet side with only a few reports of catches mainly
from the main channel at night, or round the South West Arm. Live or fresh
squid or live mullet the baits to try temp them on the bite. Kingfish
from rat size through to about 90cm have been caught as far down as Lilli
Pilli baths. Squid and yakkas the best bait but you'll need to berley
up well.
As for the Surf, Salmon, Whiting and some nice Bream have been caught
from Cronulla right up to Wanda beach. Pillies and beach worms the baits.
No reports of Flathead or Jews but they will be around.
The Rocks have seen drummer,
trevally, salmon, kingfish, bream ,snapper, bonnies, tailor. All been
caught lately, try around cronulla pt (shark island) jibbon head or port
hacking point. Pillies and prawns the baits and use berley (bread and
old prawn heads works a treat)
Also if you have a boat try around Jibbon Bomborah for a good mixed catch
of reef fish and pelagic fish. Also drift around bate bay for snapper,
flathead and float some baits around as well for kings and tailor.
Hope this helps ya out
Dave
