Pretty sure you can get Jewy fingerlings - ring fisheries would be the best bet. They grow up Jewies for release and fish farming. They apparently take three years in optimum conditions to get to 45cm.

Ring DPI fisheries at taylors beach! They will set you straight. Forget keeping bream, theyll make a total mess of your marine enviroment. I think you would be far better off keeping a small barramundi as they a much less fussy eaters and the water quality dosent have to be as strictly monitered. You can ring Taylor Made fish farm. This is the only fish farm in NSW with the rights to breed Barra! Fingerlings are charged by the millermetre 25mm = 25c Im not sure if they sell to the public though, so you'll have to call them. You can get barra from pet stores but they are expensive. Whatever you do DO NOT try and catch small fish (bream ect) from the wild and put them in your tank. You'll just end up killing them!:Backstab:
Taylors Beach Fisheries station breed Jews and Snapper from memory. Maybe not Snapper anymore but Jews for sure, they have a male and female of around 25kg swimming in the tanks there.
About the Bream, my mates have caught Bream and grew tem up in their own tanks, one he even converted to fresh water!

Yep taylors beach Fisheries have a heap of HUGE jewies and snapper in an outdoor pond. Its AWSOME to see, I have hand fed them wich was a blast!!
I strongly discourage people catching bream or any other fish for that matter from the wild and trying to keep them in tanks!! Simply because it encourages people to take undersize easy to manage fish from the wild wich theyll probably F*%K up and kill anyway. There are plenty of cool natives that are bred in captivity go and buy some!!!!
I agree with ya, they should not do it, Barras are cool to keep
so are Murray Cods and Saratoga's. You can bring home yakkas and feed them to the fish. Great hobby.
Thanks guys for the idea.
Yeah..I mean I wanted to buy them from the breeder, not catch it from the sea.
BTW, does anyone of you guys know the contact number or the address or at least the suburb, where that fish farm is located?
I want to contact them to ask if I could buy the fingerlings.
Happy Fishing!! :hellyeah:
