HELP ME

I am relatively new to fishing, and need some advice on what to buy. i have currently have 12Ft 8 -10Kg beach rod (silstar) and the 7ft 8Kg (silstar) and want to buy a light boat set up. for around $400 rod and reel something that will do arround 8lbs. this is due to everyone telling me the lighter the better

can some one recomend a reel and rod.
my reels that i have been using are okuma and have not had a problem but i haer that there may be better options with other brands

Mate its hard to go past shimano, from smaller stradics to baitrunners they are awesome reels. Im sure some other members will have some great advice for you

my light set up is a shimano stradic 2500(no longer made so the other option is a 2000) matched up with a berkly drop shot2-4kg rod. The reel i have been using for 3 years now and it has never let me down, the rod is fairly new and i find it very good for the price(90 bucks). Another good rod out there is the shimano rack raider(think thats the spelling) and i have heard of alot of people being happy with this rod. Go to your local bait and tackle and see what rod feels best to you as my preferences most likely differ to alot of other people out there.

shimano 2-4kg rack raider with a symetre 2500 in a package for about $300 at some places
8lb braid or ten for more all purpose
been using them for ages now and theyre great.

thanks for everyones help i have gone out and got a shimano stradic 2500 and a shimano Raider 3-5Kg with some fireline 10lb braid. it looks good and can't wait to try it out
