They're probably safer than the 'basa fillets' you can buy out of Coles or the imported prawns for that matter!

But the 'east of the harbour bridge' as a guide is a good one. Do you reckon the westie fish don't like going beyond the bridge? Do they turn and go back again when on a day out?

I'd like to get other peoples opinions on this. I regularly eat bream and flathead from Middle Harbour and North Harbour, but who's to say they didn't travel from Homebush for their holidays? (at least the bream that is, if flatties are too lazy to swim that far).

Every fish in the harbour has either come in contact or lived in dixon areas.

Its a fish eat fish world in the harbour so the the chances of finding dioxin free fish woudl be pretty rare.

No matter what the test results have shown I still beleive pelagics such as Kings have some tracable levels of dioxins and I would think that squid would have a a rating due to thier structure and anatomy and being more affecting by theier environments more than most other species. So anything that eats squid and bream would have a good chance of containing dioxin levels.

I think that they should ban all pros out of the harbour for dioxins and at least 3nm from shore just to safe. I think they should do this forever as you can't be to sure:ohhh yeah: Im guessing none of us would be complaining:beerchug:

I wish they had a reason to place the same ban in pittwater!! I wish it was forever also!

The only way that is going to happen is to have a marine park and people don't want it. Its a catch 22 really.

Unless you can find some harmful waste or something there will be no chance.

Fish are cleared of high dioxin levels by swiming in open uneffected water ?!? (not sure if that is worded correctly) I was talking to a person of authority on the matter and i am sure he said something like that. If that is true i still dont know how long it would take to be cleared. ??

geez, I'd rather get my family into fish with some dioxin in them than shell out on ritalyn for the ADD they get from lack of fish oils in the diet.

Must admit the taste of bream and flathead where I have been fishing lately is very different than that of other areas I have fished in the past, but I'd rather take my chances with what I have caught (better than coles or woolies special for the week)

Never buy fish from Coles !
I cant really comment on woolies but coles is just ferel! We are very close to someone that works in a coles deli and after some of the storys we have been told we would never buy fish from them. unless we were looking for a bit of time off work.
