hey guys we fish off the wharf some times never had troubles with the cops before the wharf it self is not a bad spot to fish from but there are better spots around that area if ya want a good feed
along the rocks towards port hacking point is real good for bream flatties,, snapper, talior, etc etc. the sand bars around simpson bay and up to constable point are top whitting and flathead spots or fish the sand flats at deeban spit (maianbar) at low tide if fishing from the shore ya can fish straight into the main channel with a chance of picking up just about anythink and use fresh or live bait
hope that helps ya out

just got back from bundeena!! man was this a hectik day..neways heres how it goes!!
we were driving on the princess hwy then turned off towards audley then a sign stops us and says "audley road closed cause of flooding!!" so we stoppped and were thinking what should we do, we came all this way and turn back? then out of no where a 4wd goes into the oppsite lane and just drives in so we thought what the hell lets follow!! so we did.
then we got to audley werrier bridge and guess what it was a massive flood!!!
so we just parked there with about another 8cars all just watchin and taking pics of the flood and watchin 4wds cross the flood with no problem!!
so then i asked my mate what we going to do? then he goes just drive through it, coz we saw a camry drive through it so we were like lets give it a shot. so we went and we made its. i'll make it short and get on to the fishing bit, neways so off we went to bundeena wharf. when we got there we unpacked and geared up. seted up a rod with ganghooks for pillies and used a small rod for catchin yellowtail. me and my mate together caught about 30 undersized tailer snapper flatties.
we fished for abt 3hours now with nothing going on with the rods that were out far, only small fishes that kept eatin our bait, so we just continued fishing for yellowtail then booom saw my mates rod tip bending like crazy, so he reeled it in and it was an 57cm flatty, with 20 or so more behind him..!! it was like feeding frenzy, but the only thing is we couldn't catch any of them, they just wouldnt touch the bait, they just swan around in circles you could just see them. so for the rest of the day we just tried and tried to catch them but didn't succeed!! so we went home with 1 57cm flatty and a whiting.
then on the way back we though alrite it stopped raining and the flood should be over so we went the same way we came..and too see that the flood was still the same but a little smaller, so then we and my mate suggested we drive up on the kerb and drive there coz it was less water so i tried and guess what the middle of the car got stuck, i couldnt reverse nor go forward!!
but luckily a couple came and helped out, they put a rock under the tire and we reversed out, all thankz to them or else we would of still be there now!! ahaha well there are some pics of the flood while we driving through it and some fish pics. theres a vid but dnt know how to upload the vid.
good experience and was fun and scary at the same time!! need a 4WD!!!

Great yarn and a good fish.

Love the shot of the weir, just imagine if they built a dam accross the river at the weir. Given that rain actually falls on the coast most of the time (instead of the existing catchment area). a sizeable dam here could provide a huge boost to Sydneys water supply with minimal cost to run a pipeline from Audley up the Heathcote road to connect with the existing large water pipe from Warragamba.

Also, as a bonus,a road accross the top of such a dam would provide all weather access to Bundeena etc. Lateral thinking and "win-win" alround.

We may need to relocate some "hairynosed wobblybums" or similar rare animal and the greenies would probably prefer to have us die of thirst rather than do that. Also the National Park people would probably man the trenches so I guess it is just too hard to put a dam there. Nice thought though!
