Most popular brand/model of boat

The purpose of this thread is to conduct a poll of members to find out which brand/model of boat is the most popular for Estuary/Lake and Offshore fishing.The info may be helpfull to members looking to buy a boat.


If enough members respond the results could be compiled in a graph similar to the one showing members favourite fishing locations.To start of,my boat details are as follows:


1982 Seafarer Viking, 5.2 M. Used for both Bay and Offshore fishing.
1985 Sea-Al tinnie, 3.4M. Used for lake and estuary fishing

Bit tricky....used lots of boats only owned a 12ft tinny but can highly recommend Brooker tinnies and small suzuki engines.

Boats I would definately recommend for fishing;

Any Webster twinfisher (top all-round fishing boat).

Hydrofield jaguar (think it was a 7.3m), amazing ride in rough conditions.

Southwind UB series..Drove a 7.7m back from sydney once beautiful soft ride, excellent layout for fishing.

Current project: My mates Seafarer Rogue 14....can't wait to give it a serious test but is a top looking little boat.

My boat is a Quintrex 4.1 wide body dory with a 25 mercury,a good boat for lake etc.With a few mods i done myself im very happy with it.

2 cylindar mariner with a swiftcraft sea gull (5m) with no rego the motor never misses a beat goes very slow but i still love her.

the boat itself is great minus the electrics, never had a problem with water leaking into the hull and ive taken her everywhere from long reef wide to the broken bay fad and everywhere in between when the motor was working.

she has caught many a great fish with plenty of memories will find it hard to let her go but once in do decide to purchase my new boat ive been considering sinking the hull and turning it into seagull reef.

is it legal?

My boat is a Stessco 475 Hussar with a 70hp Yammi...both 2001 models

BUt i would think Quintrex would be the most popular brand of boat...i can definately say that i see more quinnies on thwe water then any other brand and i fish atleast once a week

i see mosty quintrex too and that because they are a great boat,i have one 4.2 meter dory with 30hp yamaha and it powers along all 2001 and it has ever missed at beat
