Well it started at 12am at the squid grounds....ended up with 30+ arrows by
6 am.smallest ive ever seen same size as a yozuri 1.8 jig and a couple of the largest 40 cm total length.Tried for a few calamari between 6 and 6:30 but nothing so headed to middle harbour.
First live squid down and zzzzzzzzz boat a 66 cm king at 6:55 am.I know this is particularly accurate but i remember looking at my watch and marveling at how early trhe kings were up!!
Next bait down and same again but a 64 cm....last week i got my pb of 66.
Radio to my mates to let them know where the kings were and within 15 mns 2 more boats arrive to contribute to the bite.
Well next bait i put down the pfleuger zings off at a great rate ,much faster than the previous 2 kings, and after a mighty tussle i land my current pb 84 cm !!! Im still in a bit of wonder at being able to catch kings at this time of year but anyway to cut a long story short i caught 3 more kings 59.5,60,60 and lost 3 more to knots /hooks pulling. The other two boats landed 15 kings between them, released all except 4 .There was another boat that was invited a bit later and they got 2.
It was an amazing morning that ill never forget. It was all over by 10:45....bottom of the tide approx.
God help me this summer if this is what late autumn is like!!

pictures to follow as were all a bit smashed after the early start to stuff around with the camera etc.853854

definately and as Kelvin(Namesay) sais they do all the work for you :icon_smile_wink:
Unlike jigging offshore which is hard slog.....atm id rather be in flat water
kicking back and enjoying the scenery lol and the kings:red party:

Nice work hook'm - Congrats on the PB mate.
84 is a top harbour fish!
Every day without the pros around the fish get bigger..
with any luck we'll get the residents till late june or even july, then back on again late august/ early september....
Last year i got a couple in august so heres hoping this year will be even better....

btw we've been getting all of our bigger ones on yakkas lately.... (already posted this pic somewhere else but got this fish on yakka on tues)

Heya Stef thats one beautiful king!
It looks like it went 100cm on the nose.
Did u measure it?
The water is still really warm hopefully the kings hang around like you said,
