1 x 60 cm surgeon caught on 8 o hook and squid !Wierd
a leatherjacket and a bream.
All fish were released except one king i gave away to a guy who hadnt caught any.
went for a squid sesh at 5pm for 10 mns and got a nice size arrow wuich i threw down for 20 mns then unhooked and sent him back to the sea alive and well.

Kamil the surgeon went hard i thought it was a king for sure its head shakes were a bit quicker it did give up just as it reached the boat but it went hard.
Ive gotta get one of those mats so i can verify the measurements, i wish i had it yesterday. But that surgeon was 60cm on the nose.
That is one hell of a Surgeon! at 60cm thats a top fish! On Craig's new video they catch a couple and they are impressive! Apparently good on the chew too!
Kamil
Used to get a lot of surgeon fish in my spearfishing days up north, they are a great eating fish.
Top photos!

On fire mate!!
How wicked is the harbour fishing still, Kings going hard....
And a surgeon that would be legal if it was a king
Monster!
Top work!!
Funny how the arrows are still on late in the season when they were so slow at the start, and the cally's are such hard work now??

Tha arrows are not a problem with a smattering of 15 cm cuttle among them too ,which the kings absolutely love BUT im yet to catch a southern!!
I reckon out of them all theyre the best looking ceph.
There is a definate skill in calamari fishing which i havnt honed yet.

Nice Pics! Most surgeons I've seen 60cms size are a dirty yellow,off-white,or light grey. V small juveniles are black, and at about 1kg they turn brown..........

The smallest king was 59 cm,the one in the middle of the 3 on the floor was 59.
The surgeon must be a late colour changer.
