View Full Version : New Years Eve Fishing
Sorry for the late report but I just have not had any time to post it up.
I went out on nye with a mate to a favourite spot of mine on the hawkesbury to flick some sp's.
To cut a long story short, we fished for 3.5 hours and boated 8 bream and 2 lizards, the best lizard went 2kg and around 58cms whilst the best bream went 29cms. Just to hot to fish at 10:30am  so we packed up.
Cheers

No worries mate I will try to help you out.
The problem with the Hawkesbury is that it is such a big system.
Bar Point is an excellent spot. The fresher the bait the better chances of better fish.
Bar island is also a good spot for bream. Try the first set of racks behind the island. Burley up and drop anchor. Bring the fish to you if you can.
Also mullet creek is a good spot but just becareful as the creek can get shallow at times. Once again find a nice drop off on the sounder and fish it. One secret for the hawesbury for bream is that most bream come up to the rockwalls on high tide to eat the oysters. Flicking small weighted baits into the rock walls on high tide will produce bream. Mullet creek is a good spot to try this technique.
Also you can give coal and candle creek a go. Same techniques from above can be applied.
Also make sure that you have a nice big juicy bait out as well.
On the subject of baits, Windsor Bait and tackle have the best bait around its its fresh from the Hawkesbury. Their prawns are of premium quality and are frozen fresh straigh out of the hawkesbury. This is a gun bait for bream. Also try the squid. Its the freshest you will find anywhere.

Lee,
Thanks for those tips.
Now your not being bias about Windsor Bait & Tackle are you? LoL
I will try to get over there today, will there be any1 in there today from this site?
I have heard that the squid from the "antique" shop next to the pub at Brooklyn is also very fresh?
