View Full Version : Cronulla Surf 10/06/07 (I Hope!)
First try at posting some pictures, big seas at Cronulla last Sunday with jet Skis towing surfers onto some sizeable waves. mainly behind Shark Island.
Hope this works, if not I will try posting in Adobe for better resolution.

All is good Mrs DK, I used to go down south in conditions like last and this weekend, huge swells, strong winds great for certain reef breaks. My mum used to stress out when we would leave friday arvo and not return till sunday night.
Fishing these days is like surfing back then for me, the conditions for most people to do their every day stuff are crap but for those who like testing themselves and playing a little russian roulette with mother nature quite often get rewarded with something you can't explain but the smile on your face and the enthusiasm in the explanation of your experience should speak volumes to those willing to listen.
Many trips, many 10+ft pits, getting dragged across the shelf, seeing mates get smashed up against the rocks......then watching your mate or seeing it from the inside out of a huge perfect barrell, locked inside till it spits and releases you into the channel unbelievable feeling.....I haven't caught a fish that comes close to this, don't think its possible....the feeling you get from being inside a huge wave is too hard to explain, only those who have shared the same experience get it and you don't need to explain it to them you just look at each other, laugh and remember that one special day.
Can't wait till Bam reads this, he will get it!:headbang: :ohhh yeah:

Magic shots Mack!
And to think we swim well past where that little puppy is looking around. Anyone have a positive ID on the type of shark?
And Mack, just where at the Nulla did you take those shots? I have lived here for more than fifty years and have never seen a shark swimming that close. Qld, yes but not Sydney. Awesome!
hi haji the pic was taken half way between wanda and boat harbour we have lived hear for about 10 years and have seen it a few times sharks in nice and close we also have a pic of dad standing about 20ft from shore with a whaler swimming no more than 2ft from him, was about 5ft long, but having troubles making that pic smaller to fit on hear

Haji, I have seen them that close to the shore at South Avoca many times, usually at low tide early morning and late arvo, they must like cruising in the gutters I guess.
