I know I know..........
Bloody beautiful.....HAHAHAHA
Sry couldn't help it
Wow!
I am sitting in my office looking out over the greay city and seeing that picture makes my hear yearn to be elsewhere!!!
Reminds me of the classic poem by Banjo Patterson:
I am sitting in my dingy little office, where a stingy
Ray of sunlight struggles feebly down between the houses tall,
And the foetid air and gritty of the dusty, dirty city
Through the open window floating, spreads its foulness over all
And in place of lowing cattle, I can hear the fiendish rattle
Of the tramways and the buses making hurry down the street,
And the language uninviting of the gutter children fighting,
Comes fitfully and faintly through the ceaseless tramp of feet.
And the hurrying people daunt me, and their pallid faces haunt me
As they shoulder one another in their rush and nervous haste,
With their eager eyes and greedy, and their stunted forms and weedy,
For townsfolk have no time to grow, they have no time to waste.

I suppose I should narrow it down a bit. This pic was taken in a coastal area in NSW but more than 150km from the Sydney GPO. It is an afternoon shot and I reckon it would be easy enough to wade out to where the pelican is without wetting undies.
A wild guess i'd have to say Tuggerah Lake.

Come on Joe. We have all been missing the guessing games.

Is that a northern pelican or a southern pelican?

It is a northern Pelican.
Another tip: south of Coffs Harbour but north of Newcastle. I was standing within 100m of a major road when I took the pic.

further north Iain.
Another clue folks - where I was standing is at most 1.5km from a decent beach and no more than 50m from the local "recreation club".
Damn . . . that really looks like Smiths Lake.

The lines just above those are my all time favourite -
And the bush has friends to meet him, as their quiet voices greet him,
Like the murmur of the breezes or the river on its bars.
And he sees the vision splendid of the sunlit plains extended,
And at night the wondrous glory of the everlasting stars.
Cheers

ooooh Yeah!
And of course:
And down by Kosciusko, where the pine-clad ridges raise
Their torn and rugged battlements on high,
Where the air is clear as crystal, and the white stars fairly blaze
At midnight in the cold and frosty sky,
And where around the Overflow the reedbeds sweep and sway
To the breezes, and the rolling plains are wide,
The man from Snowy River is a household word to-day,
And the stockmen tell the story of his ride.

Short of providing GPS coordinates I don't know what other clues I can provide.
Any more takers? I am sure I am not the only person that has been to this spot. Maybe most people drive straight past as this place is less than 20km fro a popular fishing and family holiday destination.

Pacific Palms at the rear of the recreation club looking north west over Wallis Lake.
Its just off The Lakes Way as on the road from Buladelah to Forster.
