headed off for a lunchtime session at 1.30 on the dropping tide using crabs and plenty of berly. managed to hook up to a nice blue after about 45 min of fishing, dragged it up the ledge using the current with the fight lasting about 4 minutes. got busted off about 15 minutes after and that was about it for the next hour so called it a day with one catch.

Yeah I swore they were protected, but the sign up at seal rocks on the weekend said bag limit was two per day on blues???

I told my mate they were protected anyway when he pulled one up, so he threw it back. He saw the sign later:Dynamite: and went nuts!!! Apparently the are fine dinning!

BF, they are protected from spearos but you can catch them on rod and reel. They do go hard, ive seen some hooked and landed and they went pretty nice!

What bait did you get him on KH? Cunjie?
Nice fish regardless!

Ahh K man! I do remeber the sign saying "by line only". We caught one on peeled green prawn while fishing for drummer, we thought that the dummer of a life time was coming up, but we were still pleased to see Mr Blue! He went back after a pic to swim on!!

Few months back was fishing at port kembla with a little oriental fellow, he said very little but we shared a laugh or two.
I was chatting to him bout his gear a wilson rod bout 13ft long and a US Penn big momma reel loaded with what looked like whipper snipper line, it was actually 120lb braid. His rod bent over and he was into it, drag was locked-up so he literally skull dragged in a groper of around 20kg, I held his rod while he climbed down the shelf and gaffed it.....man this thing had a mouth big enough to take both my fists at once, with a huge smile on his face he said goodbye and went home.

I have to start taking shots of these fish I see coming in!

Geez Kamil, you just gave away my second occupation:rolling laughter: :rolling laughter:
Fishinf, missed out onfishing today was called into work. :ranting2:

It was a classic catch this guy was barely over 5ft tall but he was a really nuggety, solid little guy...just grabbed his rod and started cranking and saying something like 'good one, very big' he was really excited..I was havin a laugh thinking he had caught the bottom then he yells politely at me to grab his rod....man when I saw this thing in the water I understood his excitement, then he scampers down the rocks, gaffs it and climbs back up with this monster.....it was a sight too see.:headbang: :ohhh yeah:

If you have ever dived or snorkeld with a big Bluey you could never kill one. They're like Labradors, big gentle giants that love a pat, and sooooo curious.

I know I'm playing the old tree hugging card, but we've got to protect these big old puppy dogs. They grow so slowly and live to such a great age, theyre amazing.

i know bass flick i hear u but they do taste good..
and there r suprising numbers off them....
at least fishn 4 em they have an even go - spearin em is what gets me - they r just too friendly when u swim up to them
but as with all fish we r gonna have and need plenty of proper scientific debate to see how much is too much and where r stocks r now.
then we can all catch fish 4 ever..

who doesnt want that?

Oh yeah I totally agree. I even like mixin it on the rocks with a bluey! Maybe even keepin a smaller specimen, but I've had the chance to get down and dive aroud Sydney with em, and its ruined me forever. Theyre just to damn friendly, always coming up and asking for a pat.

norths the side i fish off at times its a good spot just find a place with holes near the wash and use plenty of berly to bring the big boys in.
