G'day Fellas,
Great site! Thanks alot!
I was hoping someone might be able to give me some pointers as to fishing off Freshwater Beach for well..anything really but I would love to pull in some whiting or some flatties for dinner at some stage!
What should I use for bait? I was thinking maybe some live worms from Narra Bait and Tackle? Is that necessary to catch fish down there? Should I use a beach rod or a light rig?
Also what's the best way to find the fish down there?
Thanks to anyone who might be able to help me out!
Honky :)
Welcome to the site.
For whiting I'd definitely go the live worms. I haven't fished freshy, but on your way back from Narra bait & tackle I'd stop off at Collaroy and fish any gutter you can find - I've usually managed a whiting on live worms there in summer!
Cheers,
Neil

Thanks Neil!
Well I just picked up some live worms from Narra B&T ...these things are weird!
I'll try Collaroy another night for sure but I'm meetin' the boys at my joint for a few beers near Freshy and heading down to try our luck!
I read a report by Col Buckly just then who said some whiting have been caught off Freshy so here's hoping!
I have seen some good looking gutters down at Collaroy though...seems to drop off nicely.
Well I'll let you know how I go!
Cheers,
Honky! :)
So how did you go? I'm always interested to hear what's happening from the beaches?
Cheers,
Neil

We got nothin!
Thought they fish would be chomping on those worms but no luck unfortunately...
Saw some older fella down there the next night fishing the gutters but he didn't seem to have much luck either.
Oh well!
Maybe it's my rig...maybe it's me...
I think maybe my sinker was too small as the tide kept pulling at my line...
G'day,
I've tried freshie a few times for whiting and managed a few from the northern end , there is usually a good gutter there running straight out. Very patchy fishing though, you will find some of the other beaches fish better, North Narra, Collaroy, Longreef. Some times don't cast too far, and at beaches like Freshy where there is a good close in gutter its better on a rising tide after dark, Freshie cops a lot of swimmers.
