trusty old prawns mate!
Hi Bass
That is very fishy looking water! Great wash and safe access, it doesnt get any better than that. Lovely pics too.
I have also found prawns the best bait for Drummer (better than cunjie) but some are better than others, The blue tailed prawns, peeled and fished with a suicide or similar style hook and the smallest ball sinker that will get it out and down has always worked for me. I have the sinker sitting right on top of the hook, less snags that way and a good hookup rate.I also berley pretty heavily with bread and chicken pellets soaked in water.
Also, by using the smallest sinker possible your prawn will tend to bounce around in the wash rather that head straight for the bottom where you will soon snag up.

Top shots mate.....Cheers for the tips Haji, what size hook would you recemmend mate?:beerchug:
Hi Jason
Have a look at the hook in the fish that Bass is holding. I would probably use the next size down but around the same size as you would use for Bream is AOK.
How are the Videos/DVD's going? I will be packing/gear sorting for Fraser on Wednesday and Thursday if you want to drop them back and pick up the next lot. Give me a call.

Haji,
You have pretty much explained our fishing technique exactly as it was methodically drummed into me (pardon the pun) by my mates brother and law that weekend. Recomended to me were 1/0 hooks double strength, as the buggers will straighten them! 1/0 hooks accounted for about 10 drummer, one groper and six thousand little cod on the first day!

Guys I'v said it before and I don't mind repeating myself....Haji is our old salt of this site, the wealth of knowledge, he has caught more types of fish than most of us have caught overall in our life's. You are the man Haji. We are definately very fortunate to have you here.
Will call you by wednesday and drop over soon after, will show you my new combo mate, see what you think.
Cheers
Jason
Jason where are you getting off calling me "old"! You have the temerity to cast aspersions at my age, how dare you ,you young wet behind the ears pup. YOU ARE CRUISING FOR A BRUISING BUSTER IF YOU KEEP THIS UP!
Desist and retract forthwith or I will have my people call your people to set up a suitable venue to put an immediate end to this scurrilous and completely unfounded attack on my longevity. :duel: :duel: :duel: :duel: :rolling laughter:

Haji, you are a fiery young buck aren't you:headbang: ......If you want to play with the big boys letsplay.........I will challenge you to a duel in 3mths, biggest jewie wins, loser gets to eat its eyeballs!:rolling laughter: :rolling laughter: :rolling laughter:
And no haji, you cant mask the flavour with some smoked eel and marinated mullet:rolling laughter: :rolling laughter: :rolling laughter:
Jason, Jason, if that it your best shot you are getting out of practise my young friend. I anticipated either a grovelling apology, down on your knees type with all the bells and whistles or, in the alternative, a robust response that would burn the screen.
Instead you come up with some half baked "challenge" that is so pathetic it doesn't bear repeating. As to your reference to "playing with the big boys" the last time you visited you would have been struggling to make 50 Kg wringing wet, and just to complete the picture for our viewers, you must be at least 1.8 M from the top of your tiny head to the bottom of your twinkly toes. Get the picture? Not a pretty sight. But,you can't help what you are only who you are so do the right thing, grovel for having cast aspersions at my age and all will be forgiven.
By the way Jewie eyeballs are great either smoked or with a little wasabi, just ask Kamil, he will know.As to eels and herring, my friend you have a lot to learn but Kamil and I will happily introduce you to the culinary delights of both.
Over to you mate, let the joust continue!
PS; By the time you respond to this my ex senior police sergeant mate and I will probably be well underway to our 2 weeks fishing on Fraser Island, gee its tough being retired! Might even try a charter at South West Rocks on the way back, or some Jewie fishing at the Jerseyville bridge.:rolling laughter: :rolling laughter: :duel: :duel:

Ok haji, fair call, being the old'salt of the site and retired and all I can accept you probably have eaten things many of us may not have had the chance to. Poor assumption on your part. Myself growing up with fisho's for parents and grandparents and not always being present when the feast was being prepared I was at times eating things I wouldn't have tried if I knew what they were. Eels I have eaten before, smoked. Eyeballs at chinatown with some mates years ago and I snort wasabi to wake myself up in the mornings.
As far as my diminutive stature you have described so well, all will be revealed in 3 mths. If I was any bigger I would have to duck to get into the 6'4" entry to my feral cave.
By the time you get back I will have had my trip to the shelf off the central coast and hopefully a couple of overnighters.
Your ex-police mate would probably know my dad.
The challenge is still there for you to take (no cooking, no wasabi, jew eyes natural) so long as you get your boat ready in time!:2gunsfiring_v1:  :rolling laughter: :rolling laughter:It looks like fishinf wants to take up the challenge too.....
Have a great old time Haji, take some photos for us and as you will be near Hervey Bay, get on a charter there plenty of big sportfish close in mate....
