I would like some advice on which is the better option: the Sevylor Diveyak or Fish Hunter. I intend using it around Sydney Middle Harbour. The Diveyak is more expensive, but the Fish Hunter is obviously designed for fishing.
If you had the option, would you go for a new Fish Hunter HF280 (approx $300), or a second hand Diveyak for the same money. The Diveyak costs $650 new.

Gday if you are thinking Middle Harbour I would not suggest the Fish Hunter, they are great little boats, for closed waterways like small dams and slow rivers. Have not had experience with the Kayak, but it looks the goods!

Thanks Lure.
When I say Middle Harbour, I don't mean paddling too far out, only where it's calm, say around Clontarf, or maybe Beauty Point on the other side of Spit Bridge. Also around Norh Harbour Reserve near Manly. Certainly NOT out anywhere the Heads!
Anyone else have any opinions on which is the better buy? Or anything else to add?

sevlors are good,( my dad has a 2 person dive yak) very stable as it has a water balast tunnel, but for purely fishing purposes have you looked at sit on tops at all?.
Here's a link via trading post the dagger hula would do what you're asking at a very reasonable price. It would also give you the ability of modifications if req'd,- as you can mount rod holders, etc into the hull - when properly thought through.

Thanks mate. I did consider sit on tops, but storage is an issue for me. Hence the interest in the inflatable.
