Having great fun with the bream and young snapper in this area recently (North Harbour). Got a 28cm this morning, and 30cm last week. Still no joy though with the elusive flathead (even with live poddy mullet??).
Anyway here's a few snaps. Started of a disaster of a mornin as the inflatable had a pinhole in the side chamber. Luckily I was to dash home and get the repair kit, while a guy nearby in a kayak kindly looked after the gear.
Was an enjoyable outing all the same.

Lesson#6: Mind your hooks when in the inflatable.
Lesson#7: Don't leave home without repair kit.

Good stuff Sean. Have you been trying around Davis Marina?

I did try around the marina Dave. Actually that's where I launched the boat (the small adjacent sandy area) and tried that spot first. It was around 7.30 by the time I got in the water, so it was bang on low tide and was already sunny. Maybe higher tide would be better? Anyway, won't give up on this area. I think it has a lot going for it and is a lovely part of the harbour. But may try Roseville next for a change.

How were your exploits at Mona Vale earlier?

Sean,

The Mona Vale trip was this morning. Short story is that I caught my first legal snapper and had a couple of king hits for no hookup. I've posted the long story here (http://www.akff.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=992&highlight=). There was a bit of excitement

Already fixed Joe. The hull wasn't damaged - the screw had just pulled. Also discovered today that the silicone seal on the second holder was broken.

A quick trip to Whitworths and I had some 1/4" countersunk bolts, nyloc nuts and a selection of large and extra large washers, all stainless steel. A drill, some marine silicone sealant, some contortions and a few expletives later and I'm ready to chase the kings again.

That was a good read Dave, albeit a fairly costly exercise it will be a trip you won't forget in a hurry - when you first posted you were going out from the bay, I almost mentioned to beware of the the reef between the headlands but as you were being led out by experienced surf yakkers I didn't bother - next time remind me to post a warning anyway!

Good going on the reddie and bad luck about the kings.
