This is my last post before going to sleep to arise early tommorrow to head off. Its seems Mrs B.F wants to get stuck in to the fishing on the stones this weekend. We have a specialy fitted PFD vest for her which really keeps my mind at ease whilst we're mixin it!

I wont promise any records......

Just wish me luck.

Storms , I'll hook one for you brother. We'll have to have a weekend up there next winter.

Well just a quick one because Im buggerd!

I fished hard for three days for NO drummer. The one day I did find a safe hole and manage to berly them up I learnt the catch 22. They were so shy that if using 20lb I couldnt get a hit so I changed down to 12lb ( the lightest to go on drummer) and got four MASSIVE bust off in about 35mins this was the only real action I got all weekend in the last hour before high. I did however catch every other fish you encounter in the wash zone including some decent bream. All were thrown back with disgust:banghead: .

I will write a more detailed story when I have more energy!! and I'll be taking the aka drummer boy from my name!

WARNING this is a very long post

Alright I finally have the energy to explain how things went down over the weekend.

myself and my girl got to seal rocks about 11am on fri and the weather was very second hand!

We decided to get set up at the holiday house and have a bite to eat while the weather cleared. We saw a dash of blue in the sky so ran down to the truck and headed down across the spit to fish off the island while the tide was coming up.

It was dodgy, very dodgy. we sat for a good 20mins watching our prefferred spot before we thought it was safe enough to give it a bash. I set Ms B.F up on a safe perch and started burlying. I then rigged myself up and started fishing. It only took about 5mins for a decent wave to come up and wash up to my knees and totally spray Ms B.F. It scared the hell out off her so she downed stick and went up higher and just called the waves for me. That day I caught a heap of Kelpies, Wira , and two bream of about 30cm. No drummer.

On our way back across the rocks I was asking Ms B.F to make a timed jump up onto a ledge between washes. Needless to say the wash went out, she stacked on her arse and slid under the ledge just in time to catch the next wave completley enveloping her. It was fightening for the both of us, thank god for the life jacket.

I soon jumped down pulled her sharply to her feet, threw her up on the ledge and braced myself for the next wave for which i hung on and let wash around me.

It wasnt too bad, I think it actually built her cofidence, realising if you keep your head, you can solve the problem with a bit of team work.
We ventured back for some hot soup and an arvo nap.

The sat mornin I went bait collecting on the low tide, getting cunji and all types of weed. Low tide is also a great time to suss out likley drummer spots due to reefs and otherwise hidden ledges being exposed. Its actually a great and relaxing way to spend a few hours with the mrs, as you can take photos, muck around in the rock pools and site see at the same time.

Sat arvo saw me at a really good hole on trechery head. I burleyed hard as the tide rose and caught nothing but filthy little brown cod with the odd drummer tap tap tap pull....... This meant for different tackticks. I changed the alvey with 20lb for one with 12lb reduced my sinker weight by half and pulled out the prime cunji. The result was detecting the bites on the drop, setting the hook then being totally busted off within about 4sec. this happend about four times before the tide lulled and they went off the bite. It was dark so we went back to await arrival of my mate and his girlfriend.

Sun morn My mate Dan and me set out at dark and headed back to yesterdays successful spot. we burleyed hard and broke out the top shelf baits. Now I rang Dan and told him to come up knowing that he can catch drummer when I can't seem to get a hit.

Dan was just explaining to me that things seemed a little slow when bang!!!!:Dynamite: his 20lb was hurtled under the ledge a 637 KM per hr!! It seemed things were looking up. Not so, we fished that hole until the tide rose to high then explored on the lul and fished the next change. The rest of the day was spent kicking kelpies back in the water whilst swearing loudly.

It may have been the moon phase, the tides, water temps or the fact that the huge seas dumpped thousands of tonns of sand onto the beaches and at seal rocks. All in all I had a great weekend with Ms B.F and some good friends, eating wonderful food in wonderful surroundings.

P.S If you managed to read all of this then cheers to you.

Drummer Boy has a new name-'Baywatch':rolling laughter: ...love the story mate, great rescue and the food must've been good. Hope all are fine after the washover and the scrapes on knees, elbows and other areas are healing.

BF, that was seriously a top read! Sometimes a well told story is better than the fish you catch. I love reading reports of any kind, fish or no fish! ITs just a great read and you get the feeling that you are there as you imagine what you are actually saying!:ohhh yeah:

Spewing about the fish, guess it was a long way to travel for not the intended species but getting away would have been great nonetheless!

Thanks for the report and pics, it does look like some Hairy Territory you fishing? Not much room to move or chance of landing anything decent?

Its great to see guys like BF, giving reports and stories and pics, regardless of fish caught or not! not every report has to be of your joys and triumphs, even the best fisherman come home empty handed on may days too! They just never tell you about it!
Well done.

kamil you would be suprised of the pigs we have hauled up out of that hole. Though not last weekend:ranting2: They are only trouble while thier tail is in the water. Once you have them clear of the surface you just rely on the fact that you use heavy line to crane them up the ledge.

Here is a shot that still scares me! always keep one eye on the see! Even when searching for more bread!

Thats the best advice we can give anyone! A 60yr old died off the Rocks at Dee Why the other day! Its sad that something we love so much, can be so dangerous to us!

Looks like a real fishy spot anyway. Are there Cobia there in summer? Looks like a great Cobia or Longtail spot? Out in the open water?
