Hi There Everyone
I have just been given an idea that may be of interest to hopefully all of you.
We were thinking about a floating protest on Pittwater with a large banner stating what we want.( Hopefully a bbq afterwards with a crap load of snags)
1 Ban the traveling Pros from RAPING Pittwater
2 Stop the spread of the Caulpera Weed
The second issue is a serious one for anyone that fishes Pittwater, Broken Bay, Hawkesbury, Cowan Creek and the Brisbane Waters.
The spread of this weed will be visiting all of these estuaries soon. This weed grows in depths of 50m and grows at 1cm min per day. Nothing lives in it and this is evident with the patches already in Pittwater.
I would like too see how many boats were willing to join in. We were thinking a Sat or Sun in March. The appropriate media will be invited so numbers of boats will be important. WE NEED HUNDREDS TO BE THERE FOR A PEACEFUL PROTEST THAT GETS OUR POINT ACCROSS.
I hope that you will all get involved because the medias attention is on fishing at the moment, so lets strike while the iron is hot.
The traveling pros will arrive in Pittwater over the next week or so because of the lock out situation in Sydney Harbour.
Hope to hear from you all for a show of support.

Mate I don't have a boat, but I can get out there on a wave ski!
Just name the day.
Cheers,
neil
I'll be there on the yak if I'm in town.
Like I have stated elsewhere Pete, count me in!
Anything to help save my favorite waterway. Count me in.
I'll be there and I should be able to round up a couple of mates as well with thier boats.
Cheers
Lee
As stated elsewhere, I'm happy to be there but March is a wipeout for me. The earlier the better.

Just keeping this subject on the first page
You don't have to be A fisherman to take part, we are talking about the potential permanent destruction of a beautiful waterway, swimming, snorkeling, camping, etc, etc. Tell your friends, your mum, anyone who will listen. It's an issue for the Northern Beaches community and all it's visitors.
Paddle out on a bloody surfboard if you have to, I reckon we'll get one crack at this for mass publicity. Chris.
And back to the top she goes. <:

The date is Sunday 12th of March. The media is trying to be organised for 11am and the floating protest will be between Tennis Wharf Scotland Island and Longnose Point.
Hope to meet you all there.

I think I'll email Alex McTaggart (local member for Pittwater) again and remind him that he owes me a response to a previous email regarding the state of Pittwater fishing (from which I never heard a thing), and perhaps suggest to him that needs to make a representation to the DPI to sort out his local waterway, and that he should be throwing his support behnind our campaign - after all, he did get elected on the basis that he would represent Pittwater issues...
Cheers,
neil
I should be able to make it

Just make it clear & VERY VERY VERY LOUD
Sent to McTaggart (member for Pittwater). I haven't included my original text as it's been posted before.
Dear Minister,
I am following up my email of the 20th of December from which I am disappointed not to have had a response. I have included a copy below for your information.
You may be interested to know that a floating protest on Pittwateris being planned for Sunday March 12th 2006, in which recreational fishers will be taking to the water to express their feelings regarding the pillaging of the Pittwater & Hawkesbury waterways by professional travelling fishers, and the havoc that they are cauising by the spreading of a noxious water weed by their haul nets.
I would imagine that as the local member you would see fit to support this campaign.
Yours faithfully
always happy to help a good cause; count me in

Hi Gatesy
Welcome aboard. Thanks in advance for your support and I am hoping that the Welsh boys can spead the word throughout the other yakas.
You of course can help by also spreading the word.
All the best

Welcome Gatesy.
Don't worry Peter, the word is out in the kayak fishing community. I'm trying to get a few to turn up.
I'm in but I'm going fishing before it all goes down, I'm guessing everyone else will too?
Me too Bashir, be coming back from the deep blue before this starts. If weather persists that is.
sounds good I'll probably run out to the baitstation and work my way in towards esmerlda, see if any inshore fish are still running.

Hi Mate
March Sunday 12th.
11am between Scotland Island and Longnose Point. Just look for the barge and follow your nose to a bbq sausage. 11am is when everyone should be there for media photos.
See you there and thanks for your support.

Pete,
How does an 8 knot follow the leader procession from Taylor's Point to Palm Beach sound - if everyboat flew a white sheet as well it would certainly raise a few eybrows amongst the locals. [plus provide good video footage for any hovering TV crew].
I'll be there provided I get the motor fixed in time.
Hope all goes well on the weekend.
I will be there in spirit (see previous posts).
