i put one on the paternoster dropper rig sometimes when drifting
good you got something down there when the baits gone
i was planing on doing that a lot this season
It's just a fad...be gone in a few more weeks.:duel:
Heaps of people are still using them! For sure!

Tried placcies but the humble pillie is king. it outfishes live bait, plastic, and all the other fishy things we use, up here anyway, have had too many days where i knew best and tried all my toys, pillies outfish nearly all the time. When the fish are stired up sure placies work, as do knife jigs and feather jigs. Its fun then, perhaps if i go back to the fresh and estuary i will use em, but me boat is too big and loves the deep blue.
It is just a fad. Enjoy it while it lastsHott:rolleyes::munky:
they must be sh!t coz mumbles is in brisbane workin, goin out on w/ends with a mate and brainin snapper & tuna on plastics & lures, recons it's just like breamin.
I admit i got taken in by the fad....and have used them a little less in recent times....not that i've fished much recently.
I like em still, but they have their time and place, as i quickly realised that bait well outfished plastics whenever i took the club boat out.
The beauty of SP's though is...I reckon is that i can be spontaneous. Finish work a little early. Keep a change of clothes, rod, vest (all lures etc contained within), net and i'm ready .
Works really well for me in summer. Had many fresh flathead dinners after spinning up a couple on SP's, normally in under 30 mins, just wading/walking along esturine banks. :headbang:
I think they really have their place in Comps etc, where, I beleive, alot more skill is required to get your bag, than with fishing with bait.

There's a time & place for everything still reckon bait cant be beaten BUT when all else fails you can always rely on the flatones to take a SP & they've saved the day on many a occosion
Too much like hard work. Bait is still the go,and skill is involved in that as well. If not more so.

Im new to soft plastics so i am no expert but i will share what ive learnt thus far.
From my experience bait outfishes soft plastics but soft plastics are a lot more fun to use provided ure using the right one at the right spot at the right time.
If you hate smelly things and you hate taking a lot of gear and you hate sitting around for a bite then soft plastics are for you. If you cast soft plastics over and over in one spot you will catch nothing. Soft plastics requires you to move left right and centre and try different colours etc.
Im probably inexperienced with soft plastics but so far im catching a LOT LOT more with bait than soft plastics.
Not sure what i am doing wrong.
Bait is definately king on most days for getting a feed.
Plastics or luring fish I find more fun, as to me it is alot more like hunting rather than loitering. so if you are going baitfishing in the future make sure you have at least $5 on your person so the police don't lock you up.:rolling laughter:
