I have convinced my better half that she needs a break after catering for her aged mothers birthday last weekend so we have planned to head North for a week starting next Saturday.

The plan is to drive to Caloundra arriving there on Tuesday and leaving to drive home again on Friday. No planned stopovers along the way, will see what takes our fancy as we go.

Will sneak a couple of small spin outfits in the boot of the Honda "just in case" we see a spot that looks a little fishy on our stopovers or Caloundra itself. No serious intentions for any big sessions but it would be nice to try for the odd Whiting or Bream. (The cook always catches more than I do when she decides to have a go, can't stand that!)

Anyone have any suggestions for flats fishing at Caloundra? We will be staying on the Esplanade next to the river. (Trendwest)

Hope to get some good pics to show all when we get back. That reminds me, does anyone know of any easy to follow DVD,s with instructions on using programmes involving the editing etc of digital photo's? My Olympus (770 SW)manual is driving me nuts trying to understand how to transfer pics to different folders and then reduce the file size to as close as possible to the max that this site will accept. Love the camera, hate the instructions.

hey Haji my mate who lives up just south of coloundra (and fishes with kris a bit) has been getting some cobes of late (you might have seen his 30kg fish recently)
anyway he txt'd me some more pics of another fish - bit smaller just over 15kg - that he got this week.
try for a boat mate the fish r there....

also on the way up throw a couple of live mullet into the causeways that run into the lagoon just near ballina.
Its not summer but there will still be big fish on the prowl there.

Thanks Stef, I am only taking a light spin outfit so may be limited re putting out live mullet but will probably try to get myself on a boat when I am there. You never know your luck.

If my better half gets in the mood for fishing (like she did when she took me to Broome's Ecobeach for my sixtieth when she killed me with a big shark and a huge Queenie) I wont have any problems getting out, otherwise I may have to look for an all-day spa and beauty salon in Caloundra to keep her busy whilst I get a day in.

Let you know when I get back

Cheers

C-mon Haji, You only want to book Mrs Haji into the spa so she doesn't out fish you again....You must go out Mrs H and show him how its done again....Maybe I should go fishing with the boss too mate then I can claim all her catches as mine!:rolling laughter:

Have a good time mate. Will catch up when you get back to return those borrowed and to lend a hand with the boat if you want!

Cheers
