Hey Guys..
so we left at around 6.30am sunday morning, with glassy flat waters, and the slightest breeze... we were mindful that the weather would pick up during the day, but were happy to get out and fish...
after arriving and setting anchor, we saw on the sounder what we wanted, a couple of schools of fish..
anyway, first fish, Yellowtail.. Beuty, your going on live.... (hehehe) so down he went, and then my other rod went off, good size trevallie...
in amongst dave and johnny had caught some sharks, we had got onto some big fighters (which did not feel anything like sharks) but busted off, and un hooked a few times..
eventually we headed back in, (around middayish) with a small but dinner sized bag of 2 seargent bakers, 2 travallies, and 2 leatherjackets .. (between 3 its a good feed)
anyway, next weekend looks like it'll be **** .. so will go do maitenance on the boat, and get it ready for the bext one..
pity though, i wanted to get an all nighter in for the ling weekend ..
anyway, chers for lookign ..
will give u guys a better report when we are out again ..
P.S- anyone into rock fishing, i will probably hit it sunday morning, early, of whale ..

Yeah it sucks.. why do they make public holidays in **** weather ?? hehehe
i rekon we should protest that we get a fishing holiday, to make up for all the **** weathered public holidays we had....
hehehe, yeah, it was excellent getting out there... cant stay away, which is why i still may hit the rocks this weekend .

Mate I'm sorry but I just can't hold it back any longer.
I know you boys are probably pretty happy with what you catch, but it's almost making me cry, hearing that you take home Seargent baker to eat, and a couple of trevs.
All this in a 30 something foot boat.
God stone the crows lads, ain't there anyone on this site close by that can take control of these guys and take them somewhere decent in their boat so they can experience real fish.
Forgive me if I sound like i'm being an arse hole but I really feel in a boat of that size you should be getting amongst some decent fish.
Someone please take this boat to a decent location and get these boys some fish.

i reckon your way out of line by saying that.....what they do in their boat is their business....and if they arent lucky enough to have the knowledge of some people well that will all change one day.....:headbang:
i thinkyou(frank) :ranting2: should be happy what you do and let these blokes be happy with what they do......
hey boys keep at it and enjoy yourselves and keep doin what you do.....
fishin is the best and you guys look like you enjoy what you guys do....
Mullaway. You have my thoughts wrong. I said they are probably happy with what they get.
I would like to see them use the boat to half it's potential. And for someone with perhaps a little more experience and local knowledge to take them under their wing sort of speak and help them get onto some good fish.
I am NOT knocking them. I am trying to get someone to take their boat and get them some decent fish.
If it comes across that I am being harsh AS I SAID BEFORE I apologise to them.
I am only trying to help.
If I had more knowledge in their area I would volenteer to take them out.
But I am mostly south bound.

frank..i appologise then...i really thought you were having a go at them and i thought wow thats wrong...im sorry for what i wrote if your only intention was to help em out.......:headbang:
No worries. Spose there are 2 ways of looking at it.
They are happy catching rubbish so let them be.
OR jeeze I would like them to get onto some decent fish.
Mulloway if either of them object to what I wrote I will humbly apologise and withdraw my statements.

I dont object, read my other posts, where we have already started trying to arrange some guys with experience to give us a helping hand etc ...
For the now though, we have literally just moved up from out little run abouts, which have kept us in pittwater and the hawkesbury for way too long ...
So are now venturing out to the reefs etc....
Anyways,
will keep you guys posted, and u can watch the progress, as we post our reports etc .. .

I hear what your saying nimrod,
but its not as if we are going out especially to target Sarg bakers and Pj sharks. The baits they are taking are intended for kings/jews etc.
As for going out further to target "real fish" (i assume you mean marlin/YFT etc) its never a good idea to go out THAT far when you are only really used to fishing inside. But hey we are getting more experienced with fishing outside. Better to take it slow and get to know how to handle the deeper stuff before going all out.
IMO its better doing it that way than getting a nice new boat and heading straight for browns without a clue. (like im sure a few people do)
Just because we dont get onto kings every trip doesnt mean we cant enjoy bringing home a feed of trevs etc.
Better than just catching thousands of tiny snapper like we used to some days.
There is also the issue of having the right gear to target these "real fish"
personally i dont have the $$$ to buy the gear i assume you need to target the bigger ones eg. YFT/marlin (of coarse i might be wrong about what is required)
Hell i only just talked myself into investing in a spool of braid for targeting kings.
Anyway our mate will be back from South Africa soon and he has the gear and knowledge to get amongst the big ones so we will be taking the next step in the near future.
cheers

Hey and dont forget, that although its the old mans boat, we have to fill it with whatever petrol we use each time on the way back in... and for 2 guys in their early 20's its a bit of a feat...
Anyways,
to set it all straight...
I dont mind anyone opinions, i am just greatful to be able to get out on the water, weather i catch or not.. no big deal... and when we do catch, its just a bonus...
P.S- We get a good feed, on fish which others go to the markets and have to pay for ... whilst having a good relaxing day on the water...
And we still get good fights, as every bloody 3rd or 4th is a Shark heheheh...
Anyways, yeah stef should be back from SA very soon, will get mum to find out from his wife when...
(he has the right rods and reels also, so we wont just get out done with our lighter stuff)
Yeah guys, enjoy your fishing for sure!
Frank may have come across the wrong way, but no harm intended. I guess some people just enjoy fishing for anything like you guys do. But you do have a boat that can handle the open ocean with ease.
Enjoy your game fish chasing in the future if you do decide to do that. (And i'll help ya crew if you guys ever need anyone or gear, hint hint:wiink: )

Hey kamil,
ur in dee why right ???
That would be tops... yeah, we know, although dad only got it like 6 months ago, and since we have been learning etc... we did have a dude who was taking us out, but he had to go to south africa for a few months.. when he's back he is taking us again.
but will definately get in touch soon, we should hit up a fish together...
Woz, anytime, im not far from you guys, so if you ever need anything and want to chase he bigger stuff let me know. We can get into them as summer starts, have already heard of big Dolly's last week at 12mile! When the water hits 21deg, the Striped Marlin should be here nearly, i cant wait for that, some have been spotted at Browns lately too. Just PM me and we'll get some nice fish.
Kamil
Hey guys I didn't mean it the way it came out.
NO I don't mean YFT or marlin ( although they are a good target, eventually ) I meant Snapper, Morwong, Kingies etc etc etc, and meant that I would like to see someone with more experience and location know how to go out with you and show you a few spots and help you catch better fish.
Good on you for having a go and we all start off slowly ( or most do ) .
It's just that most of us when starting out havent got such a great boat to do it in.
Sorry if I affended.

Hey Frank, you didnt offend, we are just putting our case up as to why etc ... We both started before we can remember, but had been land based fisheman, till we got our tinnies and runabouts, and played on them throughout our teenage years.. now having this boat we have been trying to slowly do more and more..
Kings- although none recently... in the season, at the same places, using the same baits (fresh squid strips, mackeral, lives etc etc) we were catching them... Although not a huge number, we got 7 in 1 day... and seens one of us had only caught 1 previousl on a charter this was rad... At the same spots, we have caught big tarwhine, dory's leather jackets, obviously trevallies, but also up to 4kg bonito, gummy sharks etc ... So are happy with this spot...
Anyways, i see where ur coming from ... but so far, we have been sticking with whats known and whats working for us...
Anyways... will keep you guys posted as to our progress etc ..

No offence taken here either mate.
Just think you got the wrong impression about what we go after.
looking forward to this summer because if we arent targetting kings from hamuwaja outside we will be downrigging squid in pittwater from my half cabin. :luck: oooh cant wait.
