Welcome mate, by onshore do you mean from the shore (ie. on land)?
I have a number of favourite places for land based, these include Collaroy beach (near the pipe) for whiting, bream & salmon, Narrabeen lake for flathead & bream and the odd luderick.
Hope this helps,
Cheers,
Neil

Well I usually fish Cook's River and have caught real nice fish. On either side of General holmes Drive Bridge is a good enough place for tailor or whiting. Today i caught a Leather Jacket (20cm) and my mate caught a 30 cm bream.
The whiting are coming into cooks river i think i have caught about 30 in 2 trips from under the things that hold the bridge up. Anyways i hope this helps

Most wharves from Kissing Point to past the Harbour Bridge have great fish. Look at your street directory, find a nice wharf with views to the city and not only have you got a top fishing spot but a view you cannot beat. Fish close to the pylons, you can readily catch bait there, from Yakkas to Squid, and leatherjackets and trevally, you can use bait that you catch in the area so you have fresh bait. Use live baits or fillets.

Wharves that are good, are Kissing Point, Gladesville, Chiswick, Greenwich, Balmain, Dawes Point under Harbour Bridge, other places that fish well are Blues Point and Clifton Gardens. That should help you.

Try and use the bait that is in your area. Yakkas, fillets, squid strips, legal tailor fillets. Pilchards always work well, cubed and filleted too. prawns.

Prawns are probably a favourite every where from shore.
