Stef mentioned some good Shimano outfits in a previous thread a little while ago Hairy and at good prices....maybe he could point you in the right direction mate.
I'm soon to add a Shimano Raider rod to my collection right on the money you are spending mate!
The Wilson Livefibre spin rods are within your budget too!
I had a little look here----http://www.campbellsprotackle.com/store/cats/rods.asp
Plenty to choose from mate....
Cheers

hairy fairy :rolling laughter: just Joe King couldn't help myself :banghead:
Depends in how much of a hurry you are in to get the rod ??
I saw a new range last thursday I think they haven't been released as yet only about 10 in the country @ present.
I'll be getting one next week [just waiting for importer to put my name on the rod] to try out along with some other fishermen to give their views on the rod.
Now from what I saw the other day I was impressed esp for the price they will be retailing @ $105 .
Blanks are graphite cork front with winch incorporated into the grip & just a wee bit of cork as the rod butt.
Rods come in 4 , 6 & 10 kg class's & the 10 kg is more of a light jig stick
Now I liked what I saw of them & will let you know how they perform in the next week or so.

I'll find out for you either 2morro or tuesday can but cant direct you to importers site cause it's out dated with very little info given on any of the tackle they have.
Let me know what area you live in & I'll direct you to the nearest retailer you can have a look @ the rod
I promised the manager I'd spend some time there re photogh items & re arrange their website.
As you may have guessed most tackle sold in Australia comes from china some of the shimano penn etc
Well the spin reels I've been using of late are no exeption & come from the same factory as the penns only difference is that they are not as expensive.
Very smooth drag systems & a pleasure to use here's a pic of the supercede ballet
ps] this fish was caught by a mate & I've done better no porky's either

I prefer to build my own rods but I'll tell you what no way you can build the rod I suggested to you for the retail price it will be selling for.
Personally I have more outfits than some of the tackle shops have
Not refering to the same blank as the one I'm suggesting to you but tell you what I love their top of the range blanks & when I started building up a few ended up staking alot of my old favoured samurai, fenwick etc rods in the corner of the garage.
Not into the real fancy bind work these days stick to the simple stuff these are a few I built up about a month ago

Geez DC thats some good looking rods...One could be thinking you are kind of offering to sort hairy out with one of your custom jobbies mate!:rolling laughter:
Would love to make my own rod but my rod building is limited to replacing guides and re-glueing unstuck reel seats......Maybe when you tackle your next one you may consider putting in a step by step guide up here for us including photos.:headbang:

storms I only build rods for myself these days earsight isn't as good as it used to be up close.
I'm actually building up a couple of new 15 kg game stick as I type
Some new sample blanks came in & I'm trying them out like the feel of them already & I bet Kamil will be asking about my old ones :rolling laughter:
I've actually been taking progress photo's of the bind work to post you know where as far as a step by step guide goes ??
Well it's easy for me but I'm no book writer but like I've already said if anyone has any Q's I'll be happy to answer them.
But bear in mind building a rod is alot dearer than buying a ready made one off the shelve I only build my own cause I can.
Plus I get what I want as far as customising goes think I posted a pic of a 24 kg stick awhile back well now the matching one is finished

nice rods, and flattie dog cathcher. what reel and line was it caught on? recently moved to chatswood but spend a lot of time fishing down bundeena way so if you know of a retailer in the northern or southern beaches area who have these rods im interested, they look just the ticket.

Mate the reel is a Viva Ballet I have a few of them & cant fault them I also have the metallica versions as well which is this one below I love the handle on the metallica's smooth drags & they're the full alloy version dont know if Fergo's @ Carringbah have still got any but they had them on special a couple of weeks back for around $85 thats nearly 1/2 price & my guess is that the new model I spoke of is coming out soon saw one last week again a full Alloy body reel I'll get the specs for them as well ones going on that rod I've been telling you about.
This is the old mettalica it's the 1000 also have it in the 2000 & 3000 body remains the same the spools change in depth & size this one I run 2 kg braid through it use it on flatones, brims, snapper etc
The stick I use for jewgong [jewies] has the 3000 model on it & I load the spool with 6 kg braid more than enough braid break well over it's line class all you need is a heavy mono leader bloody jewgong like to hug the bottom in the initial stages of fight hence the heavy leader.

I know that wasn't my flatone in 1st pic cause it's not my rod bindings gave that away & that blank if I recall correctly was a Loomis & to give you an idea we loaded the Loomis up against the blanks which I use [ RAPS] & there was very little or no difference @ all whatso ever but the RAPS are a fraction of the cost compared to the Loomis.
Again if I recall line in that 1st pic is Platyll braid cause I recall spooling my mate up with it again 6 kg the flatty was taken whilst spinning for jew

Oh Oh Hairy !
Those spin sticks I spoke of wont arrive in Autralia till December ready for Xmas, my mistake the ones I had a play with were the samples.
I did however take a pic for you this arvo the rods in Q will be marketed as the OCHER range & it's the rod on the right hand side with red bindwork.
What I did was also grab the rod it will be replacing & its what's called the limited edition RAP 1 rod, I have quite a few of the RAP 1's well more than quite a few :rolling laughter: very nice blank but I build them to my specs.
Now the new RAP 2's have come in [blanks only] & they're the ones 3 pics ago haven't used them as yet reason Iincluded the limited edition rod in this reply is that you should be able to get a 4 - 6kg one for around $80 retail not a bad buy.
I have got one & no probs running 6kg braid though it anything heavier is silly if spinning for snapper same as jew I use 2kg braid for snapper & only use the 6kg rod for jews.

M8 Shimano Raider are nice rods:ohhh yeah: a m8 broke my excel up in WEIPA Hott so i bought a http://www.innovatorrods.com/graphics/nitro_page_rod_longbuttspin.jpg VIPER 7'0" – $299.95
OK now we are getting serious! Some of you found our Godzilla a little heavy and our Magnum Butt Distance spin a little light. Well just to show that we listen to our customers and also to give you a rod that fills that hole we came up with the NITRO VIPER. This seven foot spin rod offers extra lifting power in the butt section for fishing hard pulling tropical speedsters like Longtail Tuna and a little more hook setting power in the tip for southern Snapper anglers. Built on an IM8 graphite blank to keep weight to a minimum and power to a maximum and fitted with FUJI Alconite guides this rod is destined to become a favourite amongst the medium tackle spin and bait fraternity. Like all our rods the VIPER is designed for easy transport and this two piece set up allows for safe storage and compact handling.
you can get them cheaper, also Rapala make good rods

Yeah I've heard of them brought into Oz by Wilson
As with just about all tackle brought into Oz it all comes from China probally the same factories, Wilson market all their imported stuff under the Surecatch name & looks like these rods are marketed under the ATC name.
You'll find the Graphite comes from Thailand but the blanks are made in China.
There's that much tackle available @ the moment it aint funny & it all boils down to personal choice as to which one you choose

just found a website for them, www.ankatackle.com (http://www.ankatackle.com) . they dont have the hardstick on their site but their other rods look impressive, so does their blurb, but then you wouldnt put a bad blurb on your own website would you.

Just go to the Wilson site & look them up

Getting back to sclark3's reply
Just a personal thing with me I DONT LIKE 2 PIECE RODS unless it's a detachable butt on a game stick.
But take note of the specs on that Shintorro he posted it's got the all Fujitsu gear on it.
The rods I suggested & that ATC you asked about dont nor do any of the rods in the price range you are looking @.
Not to say guides etc are crap but with fujitsu you are paying for the name
