Don't neglect your boat.
I am guilty of doing such a thing:ranting2: .
Recently I seen a post by HSV about him wanting a boat:cool-smiley: .
I have such an animal and made the offer to Michael to come and have a look at it.
Now it's been well over 12 months since I have even looked at this particular boat with any more then just a casual glance as I was walking past it.
I knew the tilt pin had a problem and knew that it would need a new impella in the water pump before it would be tested, and I was prepared to fix these things before taking Michael for the all important test run.
I dragged the thing out of it's makeshift garage and handbrushed the cob webs of it.
I then connected some fuel and a battery to it, expecting it to start within a few turns, as it has always done.
The thing wouldn't start. At this stage I noticed the controls wouldn't go into forward gear.
The Steering was also well and truly seized with no hope of ever being freed, ( believe me I have freed up dozens of seized steer cables before ) but this was a cut off job.
One thing led to another and I have decided to bite the bullet and put the other motor I have on it, also replace the control box, cables, loom etc etc etc.
The steering happens to be different system from what was on it, so this means I have to replace the whole system steer wheel bevels and cable, not just a cable.
Oh well the 27mhz radio still makes a noise so at least I might be able to get away without replacing that.
All this from a boat that was super reliable. Over the past 12 years or so all I had to replace was routine plugs impella etc and a coil and a starter motor.
All for the sake of starting it now and then and running through the steps that I preach to everyone else to do, turn the steering every time you walk past it etc.
It's going to take me a while to fit all the replacemant bits so I hope Michael is patient with me.
Wouldn't blame him if he told me to stick it.

Here's where I'm up to so far.
