what would you do

Hey guys just out of curiosity if you caught a fish and going to release it due to undersize or what ever but the fish half ate the hook would you try and get it out or cut the line and as much of the hook as possible..\

Cut the line. You trying to pull the hook out will damage internal organs. If you leave it, it may get dis-lodged.

Im with Joe.
If you use steel hooks then even if they dont throw the hooks immediately corrosion will take care of the barb. Then it may be able to be spat out by the fish.
VMC and stainless hooks though are a bit of an issue though. On quite a few occassions last year we caught kingfish that were starving with these hooks lodged in their throats. They all had growth on the hooks but had not coroded fast enough to stop the fish from starving.
