boat size+ motor ?

after a 12ft tinnie and around 5hp to go with it . do i need a boat licence for that motor size or do i hve to go a smaller size 4.5 hp ? your help would be great . :banghead: .

If a vessel is capable of exceeding 10 knots speed limit then that vessel has to be registered.

A unlicenced person is permitted to master a vessel as long as he/she does not exceed a 10 knot speed limit.

In other words you dont need a licence with any boat as long as you're not going faster than 10 knots irrelevant how fast that boat is capable of going
