Hi all, I was at pittwater yesterday, doing some fishing, I had the downriggers, tolling for kingies, when all of a sudden the water started bubbling, You could cleary see the salmon, bust up some sort of bait and taking off, they were quiet large ones too.

I threw every thing at them, metals, sluggos, trolled red head rapalla's thru them, deep & shallow divers, even trolled live bait thru them, but I didnt get one single hit.....

can anyone explain why? with tailor I guess its a different story , they seem to hit anything, but why not so with salmon.....

did I do something wrong, was there something else I could have done?????

as always I appreciate any advise , i have posted this elsewhere too.

cheers

Nothing new mate. They were probably feeding on "Eyes". These are real tiny fish fry that are near impossible to see. The best way to get them when they are like that is on a fly!:rolleyes:Very frustrating when they get like that.

Did you try an unweighted bass minnow Jorg? That should do the trick.

Or, as Joe said, have a swoff for them. They won't turn up an eye fly if you land it in the moddle of them. Or you can fish an eye on spin gear with a bubble float.
