Planning on a trip on the Hawkesbury on Saturday to have a bit of fun fishing for whatever. Had planned to go with Frank but if he can't go due to trailer problems I wanted to have a plan "B". I don't drive so catching a train to Brooklyn (Hawkesbury River train station)is no problem or transporting the gear. The only problem I face is there is NO hire boats anymore at the marina.:banghead: To hire a tinny I have to put the leg work in back along Brooklyn Road to get one (anything from one and a half to three "k's"):eeek: . I don't mind lugging gear on a train as I can put it down but lugging rods, bucket, tacklebox, backpack etc is a pain in the......:nopity:
Shame the boat rental place is gone from there as I was talking to the lady from the liquor store and she said they keep getting numerous requests from couples/families wanting to hire a vessel for the day. Apparently the owners of the marina don't want one there(reasons unknown).
This little setback will see how dedicated to the sport I am. Look forward to seeing you on the river or up at the Classic turnout for those going. :luck: :luck:

Thanks for the info BC.:ohhh yeah: Very kind of you but I was looking at hiring around the Brooklyn vicinity as the hire boats don't exactly fly and the areas I will be fishing aren't that far away from the "drop off" point (Hawkesbury River train station)
Glenn. Not looking good for me for the week end.
I sent in the entry form for the classic with an explanation that I would pay the entry fee at the start of the comp or at least as soon as I managed to get to the start point.
Just got a PM back from Brett stating that if there was no money with the entry form it would not be accepted.
How do you send money in an email.?
OH well looks like I left it too late to enter.
I would have taken the boat up for the week end ( think the bearing would hold out ) if I could have got into the comp, but with my entry not being accepted, it's not worth my while taking the risk.
Doug Grant wants me to do some work on his boat anyway so looks like I will be busy.
Why don't you take all your gear via train to the station, and see the lovely lady behind the counter of the local shop or wherever it is close to the station, and see if you could leave the gear in her hands while you walk up to the boat hire place, hire the boat then call in and pick up your gear. Buy the lovely lady a block of chocolate or something for being nice.
Will let you know for sure what I am doing once I hear from Doug.
Might still come up even though I can't fish the comp.

Be a shame to miss it Frank but I understand. I think the email was just for verification to say that you were posting the form and money...not to worry though. I will still go fishing as I need to get on the water again now that I have been out 2 of the last 3 weekends:headbang: . The addiction has kicked in again. I will still be going to PittTown (promised Changa)on Sunday :alcho meter: even if I have to catch a train to Windsor and then (get a taxi??) make my way from there. It's an adventure in the making. I hope I just don't get the Murphy McCain disease!!!
Frank why dont you pay through express post? if you send it today it should get there in time.

Fax the entry & direct drbit fee into account
as long as you debit with cash or credit card funds are cleared on the spot & no one can Q you
Thanks guys, but the deadline was last week some time. I tried to rush it through at the last moment, and hoped that I could be trusted to come up with the entry fee on arrival.
But these conditions were not accepted, so I just have to miss out.
Next time I will decide early wheather or not I want to enter.
Frank
Frank,
unfortunately, when there is so many entries involved, and i do not personally open, accept, or send confirmations of any entries(this job is huge and takes 2 people over 2 weeks of full time work to just process) accepting entries without payment just cant happen regardles of who knows who and who trusts who.
The people that volunteer their time to process all entries have guidelines and unfortunately, it never pleases everyone.
every year we get 2 or 3 without payment and USUALLY, a letter is sent back stating no money was with entry.
Also, some people way back when , would send in entries, then fish the comp, and if they caught nothing would not show up to weigh in, therefore not pay their money, costing the charities involved much relied upon funds.
Im sorry if you dont make it to have a fish or be part of it, even the weigh in is a great place to catch up and have a beer with many friends we only see once a year.
The cut off date for entries was oct 27. BUT ....
if you still interested and can get money to me i will ENSURE that your entry goes in.
Thats the best i can do.
changa
ps. Its not my comp, i just help run the thing(by that i mean work you bum off for 6 months chasing sponsors and prizes aand donations etc, just to give it all to charity) If anyone wants to change anything in the comp, you are welcome to join the club and committee and have your say... we need more good organisers :ohhh yeah:
