Whats a general good boat size for novices?
We would be fishing- in Syndey harbour- and most likely wouldnt be going out past the heads. Not enough experience.
Some boats look like they would drown out there- saftey first for us.
It's a lack of detailed question, but I'm guessing for comfort and manouvourability- you would want minimum 5 meteres?
Sound about right?

Hi Disco and welcome to the site, it all depends on how many people you will want to take fishing with you and what type of fishing. A 5m boat will safely and comfortably allow 3 people to fish it. Comfort being the main factor here. It all depends on what you want from a boat, fishing only? leisure? both? Some boats to look at are half cabins which are great for families as they have a cabin which you can get out of the sun from plus the kids if any can lie down. Pure fishing boats like centre consoles are primary for fishing with the fact that you may walk around the whole boat and fish. Then there are runabouts and bowriders. There is alot to choose from. To me you can fish the harbour in a boat that is 4m and up.

Thanks for replying.
We would fish in groups of 3-4, no more.

I guess I need to research more- and see what they go for in the trading post etc. :-D
