Went out on Sat on the harbour chasing kings with a friend from High School who I havn't fished with for about 6 years, also my 4 year old came along.

Got 6 squid and about 6 yellowtail for bait between 6:30 and 8am. Had a scare when a big huntsman climbed out of the burley masher pole! I flicked it into the water near a school of yakkas but didn't see any of them go for it...

Hit the markers, pickers at most of them. Saw a guy hook up to a king at the eastern wedding cake but he got busted off after a few minutes. This got our hopes up but with nothing else happening moved to the yellow marker closer to rose bay. Got the only kingy of the day here on a small live yakka - just legal about 61cm - a friend followed him in but we couldn't tempt him into striking before dissapearing. My friend was hit a couple of times on squid but no hookup.

Tried to head over to North head waverider at about 10:30 but it was a bit too rough. Got distracted by a huge school of yakkas (cowanyoung?) near south head that had some chopper tailer and/or salmon around also. Spun metals and other lures for a couple of hits but no hookup.

Tried a couple of spots in middle harbour but very quiet. I remember this time last year middle harbour began to fire with surface action aplenty. Will it happen again this year?

Cheers,
