Hi all
just got back after a good weekend that started as a shocker.

The Plan
Go up to Port Stephens with my very lovely, very pregnant wife and my darling 3yr old daughter. We were going to arrive at our destination some where around 8pm and settle in for the night and get off to sleep early so I could help work on the boat early the next morning.

Reality
Arrived at Port Stephens at 10.30pm after swapping my wifes broken down car on the expressway with my mum. ( MUMS ARE THE BEST ARENT THEY?)
My sister followed her up to Mooney Mooney where we were awaiting a tow.
Thank you to Peter from Mt White Towing as for an extremely good price he towed and locked it up at Berowra for us.

Friday saw the owner of the boat and 2 other legends Stuart and Simon slowly but surely repair the boat. We worked until dark and Stuart and another recruit Peter worked until 1am.

Saturday saw the finish of our repair and finally at 12 noon we were at the shelf and fishing. The seas were rough but the new Yanmar 250's were purring like kittens.
We hung around bait schools but had no luck.

Sunday saw us race out to the Car Park and after pulling up and catching a dozen livies we set off to find a beakie.
We moved 200m before a good school of slimies were found and pulled up and dropped the baits down deep.

5 minutes later and I had lost the first marlin for the day.
10 sec after losing the first fish the second livie goes off. After a 15 min battle John watches in horror as the second fish escapes due to a parting double.

15 minute later and we were back on the spot. The bait hit 100m and before we knew it we were onto our 3rd fish.
We were lucky enough to get sight of this fish late into the battle when it finally put on an arial show.
One and a half hours and the fish was finally tagged. It was a black Marlin between 100-110kg. It was caught on 15kg and swam off strongly after being tagged.
The rest of the day was spent changing lines over because of the big leatherjackets of 6lbs that were eating our baits.
We caught one leathery on a briddled slimie and 9/0 tuna circle hook. That shows how many of these fish are down there.

Monday
We were suprised to find our car ready to swap over and a bill that was very reasonable. Thanks to Mark Ewings for all his help in a very trying time.
All in all a great break and a wonderful time on a great boat.
Thanks Dave for inviting me out on Talapia once again, I enjoyed myself and have the bluewater bug AGAIN.
All the best.

Yeah mate
I thought we were in for nothing but trouble after the first nights little episode.
Great to hit the bluewater again and there was nothing that was going to ruin the weekend. Lots of beer and bullspit shared amongst friends. Not a better weekend can be had.
All the best.

Good to see it all came together for you Pete! Seems there have been a few bills this weekend.
