What type of fish is this?

Caught 2 of these today in North Harbour, 40 and 43cms. Amazing sport. Can anyone confirm what they are?

are they any good to eat? and also, is there a size limit?

They're pretty bloody and a bit dirty tasting, but make bloody good bait. You usually get em in Pitty and nothing is better for stirring up the kings than a small live watsons. Same legal as bonito.

Without doubt one of my favourite fish to eat Sashimi...

Bled and placed in an ice slurry as soon as they're caught they're absolutely beautiful...
