View Full Version : Unpowered Electric Reels
Can electric reels such as the Tanacom Bull or Miya Epochs, be used as conventional game reels? By that I mean, if they are not powered up, can you simply use the winding handle and drag mechanism, as you would say a Tiagra reel?

Yeah i have a tanacom bull, you can use it by the handle or with the electric winch. Both use the same drag. Has about 25kg winding power electrically. Dunno bout game fishing with it though. You would need the Daiwa DENDOH MARINE POWER 3000 for that. Much bigger, stronger and with more pulling power, closer to an electric tiagra. Check it out here....

lazy buggers:rolling laughter: :rolling laughter:
What I am trying to fathom is can they be affective as normal reels.ie NOT USED CONNECTED TO A BATTERY.
Are they easy to wind like a normal reel. I am planning to get one and would like to be able to use it in two modes. The first is trolling and winding in manually and the second is in "lazy bugger" mode for deep drop fishing, when I simply want a feed of fish and aren't worried about the lack of sport involved with this mode of fishing.
