Guys I have been having a great time in past couple of weeks on the soapies, flatties and bream. I have been pulling up between 12 and 60 soapies up to 60cm in a session, though most are smaller, they still put a a great fight on the 1 to 3 kg gear, and count-less flaties and bream.
I also managed a 42cm whiting on a live prawn, thats the biggest one I have caught that far up the river. The secret to all this has been live prawns, which you can get from any of the trawlers on a week day. Dead ones just dont have the same results. If you do approach a trawler, wait until they have finished there shot before you go along side.
Most of these fish have come from between Wiso's and Lower Portland, I will get shot if i give more detail than that!
