It appears the bass and EP's are biting well at the moment on surface lures and plastics. They should be munching everthing that goes as it is only a few weeks before they head downstream to spawn. Has anyone else had much luck?

YOUR DOING OK,by the sounds of it SYD,you will have to let us know where your getting all the soapies.
Had a mornings fish Sunday. Up one of the creeks.
We caught 11 fish for the boat, approx 5 bass (mainly small, only one over 300), nice mid 30's EP from a creek mouth. and a few flatties.
The water was really clear, sight fishing to flathead was a new one to me. Awesome fun.
Taken on a mix of Gulps and Shallow diving minnows.
It's starting to get a little chilly in the mornings though.

You have found the EP's, If you do get some more can you call me as I am getting involved with a project on EP's, and we need some samples. Also one day in the next few weeks we will need you guys, if its possible to help get a few 30 or so to keep alive at the fisheries office. They are doing a big study on the life cycle of the EP's. , the info should benifit us all.
Will do.
Have only got the one recently though. Last one was over 2 months ago, they are mainly a bycatch of the bass. Fisheries will supply us with lifetime licenses in return won't they ?
Fished twice on the weekend.
The bass are definitely starting to move down, as we got a few around Wisemans, and then the upper reaches of creeks were much quieter.
We actually kept a few fish for the first time in as long as I can remember as the girls were hammering us about fishing and never bringing anything home.
An hour and a half on Sat morning: Boom - 3 solid bream and a thumper flattie. There's dinner for 6. Now can we got back to releasing them ?
25 fish for the boat on Sat, 14 on Sunday (all but 4 released) approx 50/50 bream/bass.
Best bream 1.2kg, best bass 345mm, best flattie 67cm.

Found that the bass shut down between windsor and lowerportland late march. We have been having quite a bit of success at Yarramundi in the canoe. This will probably only last till the end of april??? Then we'll head back down river for the brackish delites of cold season bassin!!!
