Just about any lure will catch you a fish
Majority of the time it's your retrieve action/speed that will determine whether you'll interest a fish moreso than the lure itself
There's alot more to lurecasting which you'll have to learn for yourself one of the most important when chasing pelagics like kingies, salmon is alot of the times you really need to match what they're feeding on cause they wont take anything else.
flathead on that lure ???
Dont think so flathead are an ambush fish popper work the surface & unless your popping in 2 ft on water the answers No

Mate these things are the gun surf fishing accessory. It originated in south oz and west oz where they have some space to take their beach fishing seriously. Many good beach fishing ideas originate over their way.
It is not meant to be used just as a lure when beach fishing (though it is when used on a fly rod and you could, and many fishos do get kings and salmon and tailor using it as such)
rig it on one of the droppers on your paternoster rig, with the rest of the rig a normal beach fishing rig.
The idea is that it either keeps baits (when baited up) or just floats itself out of the sand so fish like salmon and tailor that do not usually go burying their heads in the sand for a feed get an easy chance to scoop up your bait.
Even flatties will take it this way as it is only about a foot off the bottom and in their ambush feeding range....
It works very well but may need a little trial and error to get it working at your beach..... bait or no bait or what bait, how long a dropper loop, how big a head on the surf popper etc etc....
Try it though, they work 4 sure
