My mate tried Kwells from the chemist and he didn't seem to be too drowsy even after 3 or 4 cans of Melbourne Bitter. Also I find staring at the horizon helps if you begin to feel quesy. I like this wristband idea, no idea where you'd get them from though!
I think you can leave everything at home on Saturday - even yourself, looking at the reports
I'll second that Roy. Try taking two tablets, people when they come out with me, always get drowsy after one Travacalm, but when you take the second one you waken up a little.

Never been sea sick before, not meaning to be a smarty, but how does one feel when they get sea sick,or how bad does one feel?just curious.
Went out with Xtosea once ,and a mate of his came along and he was sea sick nearly all day long.
Im fine if i stare at the horizon too,but as soon as i look down im f&^$d.
I honestly believe its the worst feeling in the whole world, and u cant stop, good berlie though......Uuummm i wonder if thats his trick for taking me out.
When i used to fish out of a boat a couple of years ago i started on a whole trevor calm then i went to half's then i was k.
Xtorsea i want to fish not get on the boat and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I was really looking foward to fishing saturday, hopefully the weather holds off
They also say it goes away after time? Im still questioning this?

The seasickness never goes if you get it bad enough, I dont normally get sick, but once I spent 3 weeks at sea off the west coast of tassie in may, everyone was sick, even the deckies and the captain, it didnt stop until we hit dry land, imagine a 55m trawler, 4 decks each one smelling of diesel fumes, fish and chunder.
Nowdays hardly anything worries me, after that. Although I (this next statement does not reflect the views of thesite) have found beer to be the answer to a bit of queesiness, keep drinking until you get home, you will pay for it later but you have a great time at sea!!!
Please dont do this if you are the skipper. Unorthodox but it works for me

Ginger! Start on ginger tablets the day before you go out and keep the supply up. Also eat dry milk arrowroot biscuits when you're out there - munch on them constantly and drink plenty of coke.
Both ginger and arrowroot are stomach calmatives and the coke helps get rid of the build up of gasses.
Don't eat greasy or highly spiced foods the night before and get a good sleep as well.
But as has already been said - the conditions aren't looking good for the weekend. Even getting out of Middle Harbour on Sunday could be a bit of a challenge.
I agree sea sickness is the worst feeling you can get...... & it wont go away easily>>>once you got it thats it for that trip.
I am pretty much over the feeling, depending on how many ales were had the night b4 though...LoL. But i still carry kwells or travel calms in my tackle box
oh by the way>>>> Hal - your my hero........LoL :P

Apparently Ginger either straight up or in Ginger beer works pretty well too!
I can agree that after a big night or something if you can't keep much down ginger beer is the way forward.
GO GINGER!
Kwells are definitely the way forward. They work for me and don't make you to drowsy either. Ginger tablets are meant to be really good, I've been told they are the main ingredient in most travel sick pills so if you want to save some $$$ get some of these from Coles or somewhere.
The Travel Calm pills are more designed for air and car travel sickness. the theory must be that if you are asleep you can't puke!!!
As for staring at the horizon, its great but as soon as you have to rig up or tie another knot bluuurgh! Probably best to stay off the grog aswell!
Happy barfing
