went for a spin tues morn for a couple of hours with a couple of mates in an old 1920's wooden clinker. bit like an old surf boat but bit nicer.

Grabbed a few squid early, not too many about but a few in the tank, yakkas too easy, then for a quick troll out round the heads where we picked up what was either an anorexic electric blue kingy, or what we all think it was, a rainbow runner.
Wish i had taken a pic of it, it was only about 50cm though so it went back cos we couldnt be 100% sure it wasnt a king. Dont think the RR's have a nsw legal length...
Has anyone caught a Rainbow runner anywhere near this far south?
Anyway back inside and found a few rat kings, from about 55cms to 70cms. every drift yeilded fish till we were out of bait and time. kept 4, 65-70cms between 3 of us.

Nice fish Stef, have heard of a few Rainbow Runners in the past years but not too many. They are apparently unbelievable live bait for massive Kings and Marlin.

Good catch guys.
A mate of mine pulled a rat of just keeper size up on Saturday. What was surprising is that he cought it just 200m east of the Gladesville bridge.
I did not know they came that far up the river.:noway:

Defintiely Kings have been caught there, i know Trevally regularly get caught up around Breakfast Point and even further up river, my old mate caught a 8kg Cobia at Woolwich Wharf about 2yrs ago now on live Yakka. The Kings are regularly caught West of the Harbour Bridge, shows the water clarity is good in Sydney Harbour.
