Caught a nice Snapper in Middle Harbour from a wharf!
A good fight on light tackle before a silver flash seen, and gone... Line caught on an encrusted pylon underneath. Wasn't sure if to try pulling it free or wait for an unlikely chance for the fish to swim clear... Having fed the rod under the wharf, surprisingly the spool starts singing again. Drag pressure increased it's brought to the surface - a 45cm Red weighing almost 2kg, landed on the beach.
Plankton!
Well done Brett, thats a ripper of a Snapper from Sydney Harbour thats for sure, and land based to boot!
Well done champ.

Awsome fish! I was reading a 1960's version of the anglers omnibus today, and 40 years ago we would not be congradulating you on a snapper like that from the harbour. In fact 40yrs ago you probably would have chopped that one up for bait and caught three bigger fish from it. Once again, great achievement:congrats:
Thats a great book Bass Flicker, is it the one with the Red outline cover? Black and White photos in it? Some really top fish in it like the record Bream!!! great book if its the same one i'm thinking of.

Hal anytime your keen mate.... I'll be dropping whatever plans I have to join you for a session. Keep in touch with me regarding the next trip!
Caught in long Bay... there is a wharf in there with a couple of rod holders which are morelike holes drilled into one of the planks. When the fish hit I could hardly pull the rod out of the hole! I caught him on a medium butterflied yellowtail.
Very nice snapper. Good report.
