Was having a throw in the surf just on dark this evening when the rod doubled over and I was onto something heavy and strong. It fought very hard and I was unable to guess the species. 15lb breaking strain line took its toll and I was thrilled when a bream of about 3lbs was beached. It was hooked in the lip and I decided to let it go. Wish I had had a camera with me.
Later that evening I caught a whiting just on legal and put it back out hoping for a jewfish but 45 minutes later the whiting was just as lively as when I landed it.
Last night my son caught a nice bream of about 1.5lb on a whole squid pinned by a ganged three hook rig.
Fantastic moonrise out of the sea - bright red both last nite and tonite.
Beach fishing can be
frustrating due to weed, currents etc but I love it.
It is going to be hard to go back to work next week.
