Headed to Brunswick Heads with the Missus for 6 days over the long weekend.
Never get to do much fishing when i go away with her cause she finds it 'boring' and always hangs around asking if ive had enough.
Anyway i took my heavy gear to go on a boat charter this time only to find out the only guy doing it shut up shop.
Sitting on the breakwall with a rod in hand my half Herring got absolutely smashed! Up came a 2.1 kg Mangrove Jack.
The thing hit so hard that the braid cut through the finger holding the line to feel for bites.
About 15 min later when it was time to go to a bbq i went to wind in when i got another smaller hit, another Jack at only 1.2 kg.
Ive read about the fighting qualities of these fish and it was great to get a couple while up North. Pity i couldnt really appreciate the fight cause i was fishing right against the rocks and thats where the 2 fish tried to get right away! While cleaning the larger fish i found 2 fresh hooks in his gut with line still attached, goes to show what dirty fighters they are. Id love to play a large one in open water.
All in all, not a bad 40 min session.
(hope the photos turn out, im not sure i posted them correctly. its my first time doing so).

awesome fishing off that breakwall in Brunswick. i have fished up there a couple of times for similar fish off that wall (mine were a bit smaller :wiink:) as well as blackfish and moses perch. the jacks in the little harbour near the breakwall there at night are meant to be monsters too. Dunno if you fished at night at all but it looks like you scored some good fish mate, well done!!!! :ohhh yeah:

They were great eating.Real soft meat.
Didnt get to fish at night. Only had the one 40 min session. To busy watching the tennis and drinking too many beers at the Brunswick Hotel. Top place that, great bands, awesome food, and a good outdoor atmosphere.
Unfortunately with the tennis on it sacrificed my night fishing this time round.
