Went for a sesh with my son last night down to Avalon beach targetting Jewies - full moon, high tide after dark, big swells abating.... We should be on.
We got down there at about 18:45, and in my spot were a couple of lads - bummer - but they were packing up, yay!. They were a good couple of kids, they'd got a fair tailor and were nice enough to offer us their pillies (if you're reading this, good on you lads), which I declined, as I had some nice local squid. Jew lollies! Well an extremely pleasant and warm night, not a lot of swell, it was a bit difficult to make out the gutters, but anyway, out went the squid. My son got a nice hit at about 20:00, and brought in a tailor of about a kilo, so it was nice to see some action (it was also the biggest fish he's caught (quote) "not on a charter"), so it was great to see him amped about beach fishing - in the past he's threatened to only come fishing with me if I hire a boat or do soft plastics at Narrabeen Lake, but this capture has changed things a bit. Well done Tom!
That was it for the night, no Jewies, not a touch. There's always tomorrow night if I can get a pass....
