Went fishing today, wasn't even the only one :-)
Got severly drenched.
Went to Gymea baths for some yakka's and did some drift lure fishing on the shallows while having a live yakka out on the big rod. got some juvenile snappers (late 20's but not quite the legal 30) but not the elusive flathead. My yakka's died on me, not very hardy fish so I'll use them for fillets or burly next time and get myself an airator to keep fish alive.
went back to grays point ramp and did some more lure fishing in the shallow there and caught my first flathead, 37 cm (PB), and it was a legal one as well. They are difficult to clean for a first timer but managed to get most of the meat of and the missus enjoyed it.
Also caught a little flounder at just over 23 cm (PB) it was twice the size of the lure, greedy little thing.
All in all an enjoyable but wet morning.

Well done mate:smoking33: :alcho meter:
Dont clean the flatties in the future if it's too hard. They are very simple to fillet and skin. No gutting or scaling needed:1yikes:
Great work:red party:

Hi Maurice
Where were you fishing? I did pass (head on) with a boat that had a little kid on board on my way to grays point ramp, was this you? I have this little green canopy on my boat.
Are you in Hacking often? I try to get out every weekend for a few hours at least maybe we can meet up some day.
Nice flounder.
Jack
Very nice work guys, you all are very brave for fishing in those elements, i for one hate getting wet while fishing but full marks to you guys for going out there and giving it a go. You also got some nice fish too. Well done.

jacobvz you need to drift the channels in the hacking on the run out tide if you want to fish livies for the flathead.
Caught them up to 1.1 meters long on livies & that one took a sweep cause I couldn't find any wittle yakka's that take refuge under the wharfs.
Airators are pretty crappy esp if the water heats up in the tank your trying to keeps the livies alive in better off just topping it up with a fresh bucket of water.
Hey fishinf
Nice Wi Ting been wanting to head over to the hacking to give them a shot on poppers

Yeaaaahaaaaa....Yeah Maurice I love the rain mate, was a bit chilly that day but as we could still put the bait on with our knuckles(our fingers were frozen) we gave it a go.....Well done on the fish caught guys...Maurice will have to head out one day on the hacking with you to suss some spots once 'dark and stormy' is on the water.

No hassle at the boat ramps for parking when it rains. Plenty of spots and a one man launch and retrieve is very relaxed when there is no queue to launch/retrieve
Jack
Well done everyone! Great pics and info.
Thanks for sharing with us.
Cheers
