Hey, need a set of springs for my trailer....They arent like normal slipper springs that bolt at one end and sit in a bracket at the other,....
.Mine bolt at both ends-the front end has a rocker style bracket where the front end bolts too and the rear just bolts solidly to a fixed bracket at the rear end.....
Am having a little trouble finding replacements anyone able to help or am I just better off welding a bracket on so I can use standard slipper springs??
Cheers fellas

I'm assuming that you are refering to torsion bar springs ?
I do have them on the big boat trailer & they're worth approx $600 each alot dearer than your single axle approx $100 leaf springs approx $46 bolts fish plate etc another approx $20

Just found em on Alco website...theyre called eye to eye or shackle springs.....mine are 850mm in length--Alco have a pair at 860mm in length, would these be the replacement and fit ok being 10mm longer??? Pic attached of my springs.
DC I'v already got all hangers, plates, bolts etc from a spare trailer and have dismantled both spring assemblys this weekend and all spares from 2nd trailer fit fine so only need the springs.

Didn't understand when I 1st read your post you velly confucious me.
Springs in pic are standard leaf springs worth about $40 odd each you can get them from Caravan accesories or any mob who builds trailers will stock them
The $40 I comented on are for galvanised ones & I wouldn't be using non gal'd ones on a boat trail.
Better still you can get them in a single heavier spring as well which will take the load of a standard 5 leaf spring [ cant recall load ratings]
Jason i saw them at supercheap they sell all trailer stuff there.

Thanks for your help guys....DC gal is what I'm after and fortunately all my hangers/plates/etc is gal...cheers Mick and MM will check out the places you mentioned today-think it may be a short day with this bloody rain.:cooll:
DC you were kinda right-the alco website says they distribute the weight more evenly due to the fixed mount at one end and the cam that swivels at the other and yes they are predominantly used for a dual of tri axle use for trailers and on cars! My explanation seemed fine to me but as MM and HSv will agree I can get a bit confusing at times!
Sort of unusual to have the rocker things at the front Storms unless it's a dual axel trailer, I'll be interested to see what Nimrod says about this.
Do you have 1 or 2 axels?
Fed. I just put it down to being a typing mistake mate.

Not a typing mistake guys....was apparently common many moons ago when my trailer was built....and yes the cam is at the front and its a single axle trailer....Purchased a pair of monroe springs to suit today from 'Carasel'
Thanks Wayno, the guy there was very helpful and said it was a strange fitting for a boat trailer at that length and only had 5 leaf in stock but thats fine as the guy there said to just remove the bottom leaf or will be fine just to leave it there.
Decided to leave the new springs as is, will fit them tomorrow arvo then only need to replace rear bar, build new skids and start on the boat!

Springs replaced, broke rear support on trailer while winching boat back on due to it being almost 1/2 full of water. Sits and rides real nice with a good load of water on board!:eeek:
