Hey all,

I'm trying to catch a Dory at the moment cos its one of the species i've never caught in the harbour. Ive been trying Parsley Bay cos of good deep water and no current but without much luck. Clifton Gardens is meant to be a good spot but is always packed with anglers. Do you know of any other wharves etc that might be worth a try. Have any been caught off the wharf at the Game Fishing Club in Watsons Bay?

Also can they be caught at night or are they a daytime prospect?

Cheers

From my very limited knowledge of them, they are supposed to be a night stalker aren't they?

Years ago I read up on them, and they were really popular in all the fishing mag's. They were being targetted, and caught, around a lot of deep water wharves in Sydney Harbour. And they seem to love live baits such as Poddy mullet and small yakkas.

G'day,

Have a look at Craig Macgill's articles over on fishnet, he has some good tips for catching John Dory.

Mado work well, Clifton can vbe great late at night on the high tide. Cottage Point and Church Point and also Palm Beach wharfs are a try. All the best.
