Hey everyone.
Does anybody have any information on the marlin billfisher, I have looked in my old trailer boat magazines, looked on the net, and came up with pretty much nothing.
Thanks

Looking at buying one.
In the old magazines that I have got, in a short article it says that they are good, even won fishing boat of the year.
But if you do a search on the net, in a couple of forum topic discussions, the billfisher comes up as being a flop, it can't apparently handle the rough seas well. Someone said that the boat designed by Ross Hunter, was based on the aluminium hull shape, and because of this, gave it bad hadling.
I thought that these boats were great fishing boats, there are not many around, and not much information about them on the net.
Any info would be great.
Thanks

Only if you haven't been in decent riding boat :devil-smiley:
even won fishing boat of the year.
Well if they say so, but elects which is boat of the year ???????? the bloody magazine where Marlin used to pay alot of money to advertise in.
OK I've fished out of a few ofd the alloy broadbills & didn't think to much of them the hardtop versions are very nose heavy.
Now getting back to the Billfisher ??
They are probally in my view the sh*ttiest hull to ever sea the ocean.
Fished out of one for a couple of years never drove it myself as I didn't want to lower myself down to that level.
I have never been in a boat that broach's as bad as a billfisher does in all my years on the water.
They cant handle a following sea & not to mention the banging all I can say to those who like to class tinny's as a banging boat go take a ride in a billfisher.
The one I fished out of was powered by a 90 hp mariner & suppose it was ok in a flat sea.
Roscoe tried ripping off the Alloy Quintrx design when Marlin started having the Billfishers built for them.
Here's a pic of the one I fished out of even the Seafairy behind it would be a 100 times better boat to own than a Billyfisher

Another thing you may want to cosider as well.
They stopped making the Billyfisher some 25 years back so whatever you were looking @ must be a dinasaur.
And getting back to that award you mentioned the Billyfisher got ???
If the boat was so crash hot it would still be in production like most of the proven boats are.
DC, "EVEN THE SEAFAIRY"? MATE WHERE ARE YOU COMING FROM, THE SEAFAIRY IS RECOGNISED AS ONE OF THE ALL TIME GREAT FISHING BOATS.
FOR THEIR SIZE THERE ARE FEW EQUALS. TO ATTEST TO THEIR POPULARITY THERE WERE HUNDREDS OF THEM MADE WITH MOST (INCLUDING MY 5.2 M VIKING) STILL GIVING STERLING SERVICE TO THEIR OWNERS.
NOW I BET YOU DID NOT EXPECT ME TO RESPOND TO YOUR "DAMMING WITH FAINT PRAISE" COMMENT DID YOU? HELL YOU DIDN'T!
