went to the hawkesbury with my old man today to try for some jewies. the water was so dirty because of all the rain and there were no live baits around so we grabbed some frosen bait and headed for the vines. not long after getting my baits it to the water my 2kg set up doubled over and line started screaming off the reel. 5 minutes later a beautiful bream came to the surface only to go straight back down as soon as he saw the boat after getting him up the second time and getting him on board i was cheering it was the heaviest bream i have ever caught it measured just under 34cm and 9.5 across the gut, it looked like it was about to explode. after that all went quiet with a few hits including a big one on my 7 kg set up but nothing landed after 5 hours of fishing we decided to call it a day and heading home. it was a nice day to be on the water with the decent weather so it was a good day all up.

Bloody hell theres still a lot of water pooring off behind the parramatta wreck. The area you were fishing is GOLD for BIG bream on plastics. Though I dont know haw plastics would go in the mud. You would probably need to use a fluro coloured hard body with a rattle in it. Well done on your bream it looks like a very healthy specimen. They really go hard at this time of year with the warm waters.

Nice fish, they absolutely pig out when the water runs in from rains, did you look at what it had eaten when you cleaned him, that would tell you how & where to look for more next time the same sort of scinario occurs on future outings:icon_smile_wink:
Also 1 fish in those sort of conditions is not as bad as it may seem, unless you find a feeding patch it can be extreamly tough fishing.
A hint with the jews, look for the color change however in really bad conditions it may be off box head wich may be out of reach for you.

yer BF i was throwing bright coloured plastics round with out a touch the water is just to dirty, the only fluro hard body i had i decided to troll past the bridge just incase something was there told my dad to go wider and he went closer saying na you have to get close and i got snagged and lost my lure on the bridge, it was my beat lure i have had it for bout 3 or 4 years and caught some of my best fish on it i was so pissed off.

beats the bream was full of tinny pippies and we were sitting in the same spot for bout 2 hours after that one with out a touch i was a solo bream cruising past.

awsome day with only one fish. it seems every time me and my old man go up its rained to much. he had to pull a sicky to take me and he got so sunburnt its going to be funny how he explains that tomorrow.

Its good to know the the great Aussie spirit is still alive in the older generation, chucking a sicky to go fishing. Doesnt get more traditional than that-unless if he chucked another sicky today and backed it up by going to the cricket.....
Sounds like you guys had a great day. The morning was terrific, not a breath of wind.
