G/day all , went out yesterday to see if any fish were about after all the rain we had , the bay is very brown. got some small snapa's on sp's ,throw backs .
after about an 1hr decided to go and anchor up and start a burly trail as the tide was on its last legs coming in good time to lay the foundation for burly as it was hardly moving,
again some small reds , loaded up my 6kg stick with an unweigted pilly twice I rebaited with whole pilly (pickers) the third time it took off up came a good size bream.I had a 3kg out as well pilly tails for bait. more pickers , thenI switch to pilly heads ,unweited , and get slamed .
another good bream. For the next 1 1/2 hr of falling tide it was non stop . I still used the 6kg along with 3kg would be baiting up one rod and flicking out and the other would get slamed .
got done a few times on 3kg as i had light leader on. as the tide picked up speed they went quiet so I packed up .
Ended up with 12 bream smallest was 33cm bigest 38cm

mate i could tell you but then i'll have to gaff you.

the main thing is pick your spot lay down a good burly trail:puke:
usually turn of tide, be patiant stick it out if you get pickers then burly is working and the fish will come ,if totally nothing then move and start again,
Find a bit of stuckture andyour allmost there.then its up to you and burly:puke:

Good one. Some nice bream. Is that your work tape Steve? Most fishos wouldn't have gone out to fish in the brown water.
I just returned from the Whitsundays, and the water is brown from all the rain they have been getting. Still got lots of fish up there as well.
Did you lose my phone #?

yes most wouldn't ,but some are a bit more in tune, with all the rain a good flush out tends to bring on the fish in certain areas , iv said it before after the big rains go out a few days later rather then staying in:hump: and you should get some good fish,

yes I dont know what i did with your no. was it 0055 something , any way i'll see if I can get it off the dunny wall. or you can pm me it.

Steve's wife would have cooked the fish, while he sat back on the outdoor setting with fork in hand.

Keeping on the bream theme, I took fillets off this Slatey Bream (mother in law fish) last week. It was still alive just before I cut it, and it was cut into pieces which were floured, rolled in egg wash and then breadcrumbs and crushed macadamias. Fried in a buttered pan. Some of the other pieces were dipped in beer batter and cooked in peanut oil. It was delicious, and two of us ate the lot. Fresh is best.

Nothing beats a fresh fish or two for dinner, sounds delicious guys!!! Btw, KKW those slatey bream don't look like mother in law fish to me...I don't quite see the resemblance to sweep or sargeant baker which we catch down south...guess it must lie in their taste & meat texture right?? (never caught one before...but they look like they got super thick skin & rubbery lips like a rubberlip mowong)
But i guess with all the other tropical superior eating fish such as coral trout, tuskfish etc. then these might get overlooked on eating quality...
