Hey Guys,
Went for a spin tues on Pete Le Blangs new boat - Wildfish1, with Pete and a couple of mates...... Cant say enough for how well his boat rides in less than ideal conditions. When we left the mouth of Pitty 6am after getting a few livies - the forecast was for 5knts and 1m swell. the only worry was short period waves (we thought). 5 miles out and the waves were getting a bit whitecapped, prob 12-15kts and the seas were lumpy as, but the boat ate it up so we kept going. 10 miles out it was worse but we were nearly at the Broken Bay fisheries FAD (which is there as it was last week) so we kept on running... got there, few passes with the lures hooked up one fish only, so after 1/2 hr went for a bash with the livies. Bloody hard fishing getting thrown all over the boat with waves coming from every direction but the instant hookups stopped anyone from caring. Similar to last week fish wise, with 11 keeper fish between 4 of us by 10.30am. Most fish were from 60-65cms with a couple of bigger ones scattered in.
Left there then cos the conditions were so lumpy and wind had hit about 25kts (thanks seabreeze), so trolled back in to find a few patches of fat as stripeys - bit of fun on light gear and great bait for the next mission. Cleaned the dollies to find decomposing pillies, small pufferfish and baby leatheries inside the guts.....
Anyway came back in to pitty and had a bit of a downrig for kings to pass the arvo but the putrid brown water made things very hard... Scored a few choppers and a small king but there wasnt much action. A bottom bash at the end picked up a nice flounder as well, and we were all done and stoked with the day.
(Picks to come)

Great stuff.
we attempted to go to the BB fad again last weekend but before we had got half way we decided to turn back because of the waves/wind.

Cant believe the colour of pittwater and hawkesbury at the moment.
Have seen them dirty before but not chocolate brown.

Did you downrig with squid or other livies?

Downrigged with Yakkas, doubt we would have got much squid in that water!!

Some very nice stripies there.
Were they busting up on the surface?
We saw a few patches of birds the other week but didnt look like they were eating anything and we couldnt raise anything on the troll.

just some skirts and feathers... but we didnt really get a troll in, we were a bit pissed off, bloody weather ... 1.1 m swell my left one... there were 2.5 - 3.5 breaking in 25 knots i rekon hehehe...

so we only went closer around some reefs etc..

but yeah, basically just some simple skirts and bullets...

cnt wait to actually get out there nd hit em...

definately sounds a good idea to get a bunch of lives just in case hehehe

just read kamils reply...
yeah my lures are all williamson ...

but got dark purple nd something, green, and pink...

maybe have to find a blacky hehehe..

also got some stuff i wanna try which are called live ballywhoo... with a skirt over the top, will try to post a pic tomorrow...

and some big soft trolling mackerals... well not huge, but good size.. the 2 in a pack williamson size.. heheh
will also try to put pics up..

basically on 15kilo sticks, spooled with 30 pound on the overheads... platted to double and then 80 and 100 pound wind on leaders...

the lures are rigged with 150 pound i think... 1 is maybe 200 ...

dont worry about running the ballyhoo off sydney, but the williamson live macks/tuna are well worth a run.

Really, i thought the ballyhoo things looked alot like a gar fish with a skirt over the head???
Hmmm, i do have plenty of others to try first though .. hehehe

Oh and i gotta stop posting then going oh hold on, i should have said that .. but here goes,

With the birds, i think (and correct me if i am wrong) that they were flying around up where we were due to the dolphins...

We trolled around under them and all over where they were, and could see them diving down to pick up bits of food... And then we were bombarded with a school or 3-4 fool dolphins... all jumping around the boat, front, back it was sick...

(we did however think at first when we saw the fins rise we were ontop of some marlin hahahaha)

but yeah, i think the birds were following the dolphins, who would have been feeding on bait.... and the birds were then eating the scaps left which float up
??

run away from dolphins.
run far
run fast.....

if you see em you wont be smashing into fish thats for sure.

ive never seen a hot bite go cold quicker than when a few dolphins turn up.

apparently they go pretty hard tho :wiink:
