Saturday we got off to a very late start, and didn't get to my
mates place till 12.30 am Sunday morning.
After the welcome and a cuppa coffee we hit the sack around 1.15.
Up at 5.30 and down to the ramp after a cuppa and some pills for breckie.
No livies at the usual bait ground so I decided to head south to Golan as there was supposed to be a southerly swell later on the day, so I could ride it home.
It never happened and I pushed into a 2 metre sea and about a 1.1/2 meter chop with 20-25 knott wind straight into my face. This was after we had no luck with Snapper or Morwong at golan, so we decided to drift for the ever available Flathead, we had been getting storys of big Flathead everywhere but we could only manage fish of average 38-40 cm
which are a great size for the table so we kept catching them, with many throwbacks of just on size or under.
We kept 16 Flats ( 4 of us on board ) a couple of large Red rock cod ( as we wanted to show my nephew how nice they were to eat ) and a couple of Jackets.
Monday we set off again and I headed south again but this time stopping off at the Brothers reef and managed a good mixed bag of fish, which consisted of 3 Snapper of about 2 1/2 kilo each 5 nice Morwong at about 2-3 kilo, some more Flathead and a few Jackets. The whitecaps had formed all around us and my Painter rope broke off which left the boat with no shock absorber on the anchor and it was getting a bit hairy, with some big game boats heading back it. It was only about 11 am but we had a good box of fish and theres always tomorrow, so I headed back in.
Tuesday morning got to the ramp and was faced with about a 15 knott wind at 5 am so decided to have a lay day, as it was only going to get worse.
As it was my mates Birthday we spent the day celebrating and just arsing about.
Went down to have a look at the ramp about 2pm and it was flat, thought of going out and doing the afternoon shift, but was talked out of it when I seen the meal that was about to be cooked on the BBQ.
Wednesday up at 4.30 and already windy so didn't bother even going to the ramp for a look.
Packed up at 10am and came home.
Didn't bother taking any photos cause everything we caught was nothing special,
Ohhh yeah we did get a pick handle about 5' long so once we got that we decided it was time to leave, this was on the Monday.
Still had a great time with a sore gut from laughing so much, we just have the best times when we go down there.
BTW there was one photo I took and that was just the meal we had on Sunday.
Sorry it's not as exciting as I hoped to write for you's but that's Fishing.

Barracutta, although it is the northern barracuda that is commonally call pick handles, me and my mates also call the Barracutta pick handles.
Once they start to appear the fishing for the day is over.

Het Quinnie, your boat would not be suitable for the areas we go.
and the places your boat is suitable, you might as well stay in the Hacking to save you a lot of travel.

Glad that you has a good time Frank, sounds as though your health is getting better?

In my experience the mixed bag that you got is typical of South Coast fishing, it's nice when there are some Snapper or Kingies mixed with it but we consistantly get a feed down there which is one of the reasons why I love fishing down that way.

Cheers Mate
